Why do we need parental controls when the website was already made for kids?

No support, just don’t confirm the email and the child will still be able to remix and view projects but not interact with the community

No support. Scratch is kid friendly. And if it wasn’t, Scratch wouldn’t be Scratch.

I thought I heard age restricted content is rejected
7.2 A 13+ version of the Scratch website or age-restricted content
Scratch is designed for ages 8 to 16, but any content shared on the website must be appropriate for all ages. Dividing the community by making a separate, age-restricted website would not be helpful. Potential restrictions from entering the website (such as a warning, or requiring a parent to answer math equations) would not necessarily stop an underage child from entering the 13+ website.
This suggestion extends to age-restricting anything on Scratch, such as viewing specific projects or accessing specific Scratch features. As a general rule, Scratch is for all ages, and content shared on the Scratch website should be appropriate for all ages.

I don't support it because this whole idea doesn't make sense why should there be parental controls if this is a child based coding site.

No support, scratch, Roblox and Minecraft are the most safest platforms out there for kids.Roblox? Safe? I wouldn't say roblox is super safe- at least for 8 year olds…
Bullying can happen anywhere.

Bullying can happen anywhere.
Aside from that, bullying can happen anywhere, but that’s no means or grounds for not implementing parental protection for a website like Scratch. There’s been instances where people have violated the guidelines and gone so far as using gross and awful pfps that I would not like to discuss here as that would be against the SGCs’ as well.

Roblox has probably the worst moderation EVER. Have you seen or even heard the current Roblox situation? It's crazy just how many predators there are on roblox, with hundreds of cases of children getting traumatized and being victims of weird people in there. There are 18+ games on there, most of which kids can easily access and have been up for years. It's not good. Roblox is literally getting sued by so many people right now for lack of child safety. They're only doing something about it now that they're losing billions of dollars.
Scratch is the only truly safe platform for kids I have ever seen, although it is usually dismissed due to the sheer popularity of Roblox over Scratch. Roblox is a giant corporation with thousands of employees (nearly 3000) yet their moderation is actively terrible and lets children have bad things happen to them. Scratch doesn't even have 1000 as far as I know (maybe way less) and yet it has amazing, fast-reacting moderation. Why? Because Scratch actually cares. Scratch is a non-profit, so they aren't twisted by the sick corporate mind-control that money-bags-money-hungry corporations have. Roblox just wants to make a profit at the cost of child safety.

Roblox bans you for saying “hi”, because reports are not even viewedRoblox has chat filter, and has good moderationNo support, scratch, Roblox and Minecraft are the most safest platforms out there for kids.Roblox? Safe? I wouldn't say roblox is super safe- at least for 8 year olds…

Mods don't even care and only care about SOME peple, but not all
It's only the community who fixes problems, etc hackers hack people's accounts (sometimes they hack for a reason like schlep did)
Roblox mods are useless, the bots and ai do all the work!

1. If you've ever actually PLAYED Roblox, you know it's just way too strict (taken from the post above) becuase the reports aren't even viewed.
2. There's a huge amount of scary games on the site, some of which may be viewed by a child who has the wrong age account. Trust me, a 5 year old playing Dandy's World is just a big fat no smack dab in the face.
