bump

This could really be good and useful since not all YouTube videos and channels (channels are entirely different, however) are appropriate for young kids.

Why is youtube worse than other sites?

it's not, but youtube protection is already implemented on the forums (I think?), so people will be expecting it to be more safe.
But you can still just click on the embed youtube button to go to the video page. It doesn't really block access to youtube. And besides, if someone doesn't want to to see the comments then they just shouldn't scroll down.

I still support though.
And why should they block access to youtube?
Cause this is a site for kids, and Youtube is not really a kid-friendly site.

Support, they have it on the forums, so why not automatically in the comments on the regular site?
It's better that YT kids tho. that place is horrible.

This could be a good idea, but the comments could overload if people spam. Also, YTs ykyk filter would not apply to Scratch easily so people could freely post bad content on a kid's website. Speaking of that, YT is 13+, and Scratch is for all ages.

I mean, you can already copy and paste the link, and YouTube can already be linked

no support, and heres why:
1. free speech (we need more of this)
2. what if there is something cool/neat in the descriptions
3. speaking of, what if you want to talk to someone in the comments?
4. i dont want this strange “youtube in-site” virus to spread to comments, i already HATED this on the forums
5. they should remove this feature from the forums
1. How does this impair free speech? You have no right to free speech on Scratch
2. Descriptions could be inappropriate better to be safe than sorry
3. Why can't you talk on Scratch?
4.Why?
5.?

Support! Since it's already implemented in the forums, I don't see why not.

It's my understanding that youtube links on the forums are converted to a Scratch-friendly player to avoid the comments section and so on. I expected this to happen on the comments as well. Nevertheless, it did not contrary to my expectations, and I accidentally linked to a video with not-so-nice comments.

The links should be converted automatically. Failing that, just to be safe the bad word detector should filter out youtube links that aren't converted manually.

If this is a duplicate, please close :-)

Honestly why isn’t this added yet? This is a great suggestion because there could be some weird stuff in the comments that an 8 year old wouldn’t want to see. The cons of this suggestion though is that someone could get confused if their youtube link gets turned into a scratch link. Maybe something like this?

NSFW videos could be posted in comments.
