yk, the assistant from Microsoft office, was there between the late 90's until Windows XP. He would help you make essays and letters. He's considered annoying by most of Windiws users, because he randomly appears in a corner and asks you questions. Because of the tech back then he didn't have “cookies” or steal data like 90% of websites these days, he was just there to help. You can look him up if you still don't know what i'm talking about.

But now this guy is the face of a few forumers out there, which is weird because you don't just randomly switch to Clippy, he's a literal PAPERCLIP sitting on a piece of paper.

I can't explain it better so here's a quote from Wikipedia “In August 2025, (Louis) Rossmann uploaded a video encouraging internet users to change their profile pictures to an image of Clippy, as a form of silent protest against unethical conduct by technology companies, such as mining personal data for the training of artificial intelligence programs or its sale to data brokers, planned obsolescence, censorship, or the use of ransomware. Clippy, in contrast, was seen by Rossmann as a harmless virtual assistant that only wanted to be helpful.”

It's a offshoot of that thing over on YouTube in which a lot of people set their profile pictures over on YouTube in order to protest against the whole YouTube age verification thingy.

However, some people didn't just stop at YouTube but also Clippy-ified their other profiles on their other sites as well (Scratch inevitably being one of them)

Its because one guy on YT (forgot the name sorry) told people to change their profile to clippy in protest of YT's new policy. However some people changed their profiles to that on other sites, Scratch is one of them.

Honestly though I think Scratchers should keep all of that YT stuff off the website, though.
