Ever since I've became good at Scratch, I've wanted to have Scratch 4.0. How good would it be to have new blocks and features! You could make different pieces of code and that can make coding on Scratch easier! So please tell me about new Scratch updates and features!

4.0 will release whenever it feels like it.

I saw something about 2027 in one of the job listings, but we don't have a confirmed timeline

One of the Foundation members said off-site that they plan for it being released in the second half of 2026. Whether it gets pushed back, who knows.

The job listing for the Philanthropic Partnership head only says “as we approach our 20th anniversary of Scratch in 2027” and then “launching 4.0”.

Because the scratch team isn’t massive and with all the features planned so far for 4.0 it would take them 3-5 years probably ontop of features still being added to 3.0

I found somewhere on the internet that it would be released in 2028 or later. Probably earlier because it was not the scratch team.

The Scratch Developers and MIT have not begun Scratch 4.0, as 3.0 isn't even finished (hence, the forum styles and profiles). Don't trust any source you see on social media.

A job listing did mention starting development of, a they call it, ‘Scratch 4.0’. However, they could just be updating the 2.0 pages. Who knows… (Scratch Team)

They have begun development of 4.0 with the CLA. If you want proof, there's a project in my forum signature that explains all of it (so far).

We don't know whether or not the 2.0 pages will be updated to scratch-www in 4.0, but it is indeed in development.

The community does not know. And there’s no need for 4.0.

It's not a hard, “confirmed”, deadline, simply a target goal.

It's not hard. You just have to have the knowledge to do it. Even with the knowledge, it's time consuming. Just like movies and TV shows that take years to film, produce, and air.
