when i went to the links for techno and techno2's original unmixed versions, it sent me a mysterious audio file download that i can't play

this could be a possible lead
could you dump the files using a file to link website? I could see if I can try to get it to play
i couldn't

Then why’d you say it’s an audio file? Then what file type is it (in general) and also, are you doing this to sabotage the search or did the file actually show up

Oh yeah, I forgot about those files! Neat little archive. I doubt there's a lead for the music there since I've already looked at most of it, but there might be something I missed!

I think what happened with http://web.media.mit.edu/%7Exercyn/sound/gloobic/05.09.25/09%20s6%20-%20gryrow.mp3 Is after gloobic was discontinued, probably someone at the media lab had deleted or privated all the files from the archive and caused it to become private.

Where do the Music Loops Come From? [UPDATED]

makes me kinda sad for some reason that loopmasters was the only website to have a happy ending in all of the 1.x sources so far

samplenet and sonicftp were shut down
that one website that allegedly is one of the sources of Xylo 1 and 2 was closed
the gloobic FTP folder was privated
and loopmasters is the only website remaining, still posting loops and having a functional website

Also, using the same method I used to find the original name for Jungle, the HipHop beat track is titled “hh_bonusbeats_100_01” which assuming hh stands for hip hop and 100 is the tempo and 01 is the track number, HipHop beat is titled HipHop Bonus beats 100 01

wait what if some of the tracks are from loopmasters? like think about it: the HipHop metadata credits it to no one, and it was from loopmasters, and the loopmasters hip hop progressions CD says it has human beatboxing, know what else has beatboxing? human beatbox 2. human beatbox 2 has no one credited to it, like HipHop, and loopmasters states that their tracks are copyright free.

You could be onto something! It's worth investigating! The only thing is… there are a LOT of loops there!

And the problem is… there’s so little demo tracks and the rest of the ONE THOUSAND TRACKS are in a 30 dollar price lock

Yikes, I didn't realize that… I feel like it's more likely that the ST would have used free ones though, since pretty much all the other loops that we've found have been free to use.

But wasn’t a CD used for Xylo? And possibly Human Beatbox 1? (HB1 wasn’t archived for free until 2020)

Where do the Music Loops Come From? [UPDATED]

I’m gonna go look around and see/confirm if Mike Fleder/Scott Berdahl are the rightful owners of the loops they composed
