1k intro!
- - -
Hey, it’s Bea! I use she/her pronouns and this is my sixth session of SWC. I’m the local void resident (it’s quite cozy, if you were wondering) and grammar nerd. I’ve got a terrible sleep schedule, and I’m eternally busy, so don’t be surprised to see me at odd times, even if I’m in EST.
I’m very friendly, I swear, I just get social anxiety a lot. So, if I leave you hanging, feel free to nudge me. I don’t mind, honest! A bad memory doesn’t help either. Anyhow, why not some (semi)random facts about me!
My favorite color is purple, specifically lilac. I’m an animator, coder, artist, writer, dancer, and pianist, which means I suffer creatively all the time. I’m a master procrastinator, whether I like it or not. I’ve got a love for genetics, even if they are complicated, at times. And I’m eternally busy.
Did I mention that already?
I think I did.
But, a lot of people in my life call me a busy Bea.
(ba dum tss)
I also really like puns, (overusing parentheses), and attempting to be silly. I especially like bone and rock puns and I try my best to be humerus but I think I fail most of the time. I happen to be incredibly blunt and sarcastic, which doesn’t help my case.
It’s quite entertaining to see people try and figure out whether I’m being sarcastic or not, though.
Anyways.
Here’s some interests I’ve got, in no particular order. Also, in rapid fire. (I will happily talk to you about them, but be warned! I will talk to you about them for approximately 5 billion paragraphs. Proceed at your own risk! /silly /hj)
Animator vs. Animation/Minecraft, Epic the Musical, Niche, Ranger’s Apprentice, the Brotherband Chronicles, Star Wars (specifically the prequel era), crime/mystery shows, Warriors (not as interested in this one as I used to be </3), Wings of Fire (same here), Wobbledogs, and Owl City.
Speaking of Owl City, my favorite song writer/artist, why not throw some songs into this steadily growing list of things about me.
You should go listen to these songs, by the way. (And, perhaps, recommend me some songs? I have a very bland music taste, in all honesty).
Cave In, Tidal Wave, Firebird, Lucid Dream, Dinosaur Park, Alligator Sky (no rap version), and Bird with a Broken Wing (all of which are by Owl City) are very good songs in my opinion. They’re some of my absolute favorites by Owl City.
Legendary, Dangerous, Open Arms, No Longer You, and Storm by Jorge Rivera-Herrans are all really, really, really good songs as well. They’re from a musical that you should listen to (Epic the musical) because, well, it’s epic. There’s so much lore and stuff hidden in each song, the syntax is awesome, and so is the music itself. 10/10 would recommend.
And, some instrumentals/songs without lyrics in case that suits your fancy better. Brushwork, Wistfully, and Overwrite by NyxtheShield are pretty cool, too. He has a bunch of good songs, as well. We Still Have the Stars by Xxtha is pretty good, too.
FUN FACT
I never know what to talk about, when it comes to myself. I can talk about my interests, my friends, my stories, etc., etc., for hours (I’m not kidding). But me??? What am I supposed to talk about???
Anyways.
Speaking of fun facts.
Why not throw in some more because I am genuinely running out of ideas for this thing. (People who do this all the time. I have one question. how. *distant sobbing sounds*)
I’m incredibly nearsighted and can barely function without glasses, I’ve got no taste when it comes to clothing and aesthetics (what are those?). I’m super quiet IRL, and have the tendency to scare the living daylights out of people because I’m standing behind them. I typically forget this, somehow. I’ve got the world’s cutest cat (totally not clickbait /j) no matter what my best friend says. My cat shall always be superior in cuteness. Sorry, anyone who has a cat, mine’s better! /j /silly
Uh, hm. Uhm. UH
(<- running out of things to talk about)
More random, unnecessary, and probably rather boring fun facts, I suppose!
I can write, on average, about 20k a month. Despite that, I have never written a novel. I’m trying my best though. I hate changing my PFP, even though I change it (almost) once a month. I remember who people are by their PFPs and get highly confused when people change them. My one weakness or something, I dunno. I’m currently writing this at midnight, July 1st because what else am I supposed to do?
Wait until tomorrow?
…
Now why would I do that? That’s silly. That’d take too long.
Did I mention that I can be impatient.
… no?
Oops.
Did I also mention that I use ellipses… way… too… much?
No, again?
Oops, again. Double whoops.
I don’t think I’ve mentioned my horrible memory, either! I either remember everything or literally nothing. I have no in-between. (I forgot a girl’s name once. It took me a month to figure it out again. Do not underestimate me and my inability to ask (probably) normal question.)
I can’t think of anything I’ve forgotten to tell you (whoever you happens to be) which either means. I forgot something (oops), or I remembered everything (yay)! Again, I have no in-between, so it’s one or the other. Which, I have no clue.
I…
Might figure it out. At some point in time. Possibly in the near future. Hopefully. Maybe. Perchance. Mayhaps.
Is this slowly getting more and more unhinged, chaotic, and non-sensical? Probably. It’s nearly 1AM at the point that I’m here, writing this very sentence. 12:46AM, to be precise. So, uh, I wouldn’t be surprised if this makes absolutely NO sense by morning. Oh well. We’ll see, I guess.
But, speaking of morning. I suppose I should be going to bed. Night, guys! I’ll talk to you guys at some point!

HELLOO!!!!!!!! I`m Kat! Or @Bookforest This is my attempt at a 1k intro but if it doesn't reach 1k words do not be surprised.
Alrighty so first I`m going to start with my SWC past. I started in March ‘24 and have done every session since. My all time favorite was November ‘24 in the Boba Tavern. It was so much fun and sooo chaotic (and I was active the most than any other session) This session I`ll be in Script.
GOOOOO SCRIPT
Some of my hobbies are writing (duh) reading biking and playing baseball. Currently I am not writing a specific book, but am trying to find a book to write, if you understand what I mean.
My favorite books are HP, KotLC, PJO, annnddddd I read the first Maze Runner which was really good but I need to read th rest SO NO SPOILERS!!!
I`m a big Broadway nerd. (it autocorrect to beard :sob) I love Into the Woods, Wicked, The Lighting Thief Musical (if you haven`t seen it and are a PJO fan you must) and Hamilton. I`m also a swiftie.
I`m only at 195 words :sob thats all I planned to write… OK now it`s 208.
Oh well.
For the last time for more words GOOOOO SCRIPT GOOOOOOO SCRIPT GO SCRIPT AND MANGOOSS FOR EVERYONE WHO READS THISSS YAYAYAYAYAYAYAY

1k word intro
1,337/1,000
Hello hello SWC! My name’s Aster, and I’m both thrilled and anxious to be here. I’m non-binary, and I use they/them pronouns. I live in CDT, in the good ol’ midwestern void of nothingness and cornfields, and where our only culture is agriculture. But don't be surprised if you happen to encounter me at some absurd time of day! I have a wonderfully wacky sleep schedule and am fueled by a newfound energy drink addiction.
With the basics out of the way, I suppose I should talk about my SWC experience. My experience being that I actually have none! This is my very first session, so this is quite the learning opportunity for me. I’m a part of the Utopian cabin! My word goal is 10k words, so completing this intro will get me a tenth of the way there! I can guarantee that my future dailies will be nowhere near as long as this one. Hopefully, having so many words so early into my session will be a good bit of security and a steppingstone to reaching that goal. Utopian for the win!!
These next two paragraphs will be focus on my writing experience in general. I’ve been a Scratcher for a grand total of about four years now, though on a different account. This account is actually going to be dedicated specifically to SWC! In that four years’ time, I’ve been heavily involved in Scratch’s roleplay community. Roleplaying here on Scratch introduced me to the Warrior Cats fandom. My very first roleplay was Best Wishes, and though that went quickly inactive, I’ve been roleplaying ever since! I’ve been a part of Generations, PrideClan, and The Plague of Ghosts, and I was a manager of the latter two. Most notably, I’m a member of The Four Clans roleplay. You may or may not know me as the roleplayer of Bopromp, Ruepaw, or Cowkit! At the moment I’m also a host of Memento Mori roleplay, a new roleplay only recently started by my lovely friend Rowan! I own Stellarstar, a ‘re-incarnation’ of by far my favorite character I’ve ever had the honor of writing. I especially enjoyed her for the dynamics I was able to build between her and her family. She was the single mother of two wildly chaotic kittens, and I’m overjoyed to continue her story! Please go check out MM, it’s a super-awesome DnD x Warrior Cats roleplay. We’re in need of more sign-ups & activity. Here’s the link! Momento Mori
In terms of real-life writing, I’m a severely burnt-out gifted kid looking to improve academically. I’ve had straight A’s throughout all my schooling, but I know I have even more to offer. I see SWC as an opportunity for me to continue practicing my writing so I can be the best I can be. Backstory time! I got into reading when I was in the first grade. Addicted to reading. From there I began to excel in school, going from just average to the best of my school. Most commonly, kids like me are picked up by charter schools, but my state actually doesn’t have any. But I’m fortunate enough that my school district offers an amazing gifted program. Since the second grade, I’ve had a mentor in English, which has allowed me to fine-tune my writing abilities, and have fun screwing around in the process! As of last year, I’ve taken up journaling as a hobby, which allows me daily writing practice. My journaling is in the form of Google Docs free-verse poetry, and I’ve definitely noticed its impact on my writing style. I’m definitely much more poetic and much more exaggerated. Metaphors and fun words are staples of my everyday writing. Journaling has been a great way of processing emotions, and it’s definitely something I’d recommend. One final note about my writing—I usually have the typing quirk of using all lowercase—but seeing as this is at least a somewhat ‘formal-ish’ piece of writing, I’ll be using standard capitalization.
Onto the media I consume! Beginning with what I watch! My all-time favorite movie is Nimona. Other honorable mentions being The Mitchels VS the Machines, Big Hero 6, and How to Train Your Dragon. Getting off-topic for a second, most people actually aren’t aware that HtTYD is based on a 12-book series authored by Cressida Cowell. She’s also written one of my all-time favorite series, The Wizards of Once. By now I’ve surpassed the reading level for both series, but I highly recommend them both as light and entertaining reads. Back on track—movies and television! I watched the Gravity Falls series a handful of months ago and absolutely fell in love with it. At the moment, I’ve just begun watching Arcane, which seems incredibly promising. Concerning YouTube, I mainly watch video essays, fashion, and self-improvement content. My favorite YouTuber at the moment is FunkyFrogBait. I also love watching content that explores psychology and sociology.
Music! My favorite artists are Cavetown, Alex G, Mother Mother, Twenty-One Pilots, and my current obsession— McCafferty. In order, my favorite songs from each of those artists are: “Home,” “Things to Do,” “Burning Pile,” and “Next Semester.” You may notice that the number of songs I listed doesn’t match up to the number of artists, the reason for that being I wanted to list off multiple McCafferty songs! My favorites are “Alligator Skin Boots,” “If I Saw Him, I’d Still Kiss Him,” “Skeleton Bones,” “Leatherface,” “Tell Me Lover, Do You Love Me?” & a lot more.
Books! This summer, I’ve read Swordcrossed, A Fellowship of Bakers and Magic, The Book of Bill, Theseus’s Guide to Ruining a Perfectly Good Boat, and Fable for the End of the World. Some other books I like are Aristotle and Dante, Cinderella is Dead, Alex’s Adventures in the Other Room, and The Phantom Tollbooth.
Next up, my hobbies! I’ve exceeded 1k words already, so I’ll aim to keep this short. I love baking, my signature bake being chocolate chip banana bread. It was a staple of my childhood. I especially enjoy baking for the important people in my life. I have a ‘bakery,’ called Wildflour Bakery, and I’ve even designed a logo for myself. I make people’s favorite desserts. Some of my recent bakes include chocolate chip cookies, cookies with Snicker’s centers, apple pie, cinnamon bites, lemon and funfetti donuts, and pineapple bars. I also enjoy jewelry-making, I like making bracelets in particular. By far my favorite piece is a bottle tab bracelet, which I wear almost at all times. I’m also a member of my school’s orchestra, and I play the viola.
Last but not least, I would like to touch on my plans and goals outside of SWC for this summer! I’m working to improve my social skills, practice my instrument, and study for the upcoming school year! I’m making an effort to leave my room more often, spend time with friends, and become more knowledgeable about the world around me, as well as my hobbies. I’m trying to clean up my act and become a better person. I’m also revamping my wardrobe, I’m planning out a star-themed, sort of grungy style. I got my earlobes pierced, but by the end of summer I’m planning to have four more piercings. I also will be cutting my hair short and (hopefully) dying it green and purple, just in time for school to begin.
And that concludes my rambling! I’m exhausted.

SET : INTRODUCTION
: The camera cuts to a girl in a chair, flash cards in hand :
SCENE ONE:
Hi, Scratch Writing Camp! My online name is Sage and I am so happy to be here! I use she/her pronouns and am in the Script cabin! I love to read, write, listen to music, watch YT shorts, ramble on about my fandoms and hang out with my friends!
This is my first-ever SWC and I am super excited to be participating in it. I’ve been on this account for about a year now but technically I’ve been on Scratch for a little longer than that. I have been super into reading and writing since about first or second grade. As a kid, I probably read like every Fancy Nancy book and once I turned eight or so, I read a lot of the Nancy Clancy books. I read tons of other books but what was probably my childhood obsession was the Star Darling books and books by Coco Simon. When I was ten, I read the Harry Potter books and was introduced to the crazy world of Fantasy and more importantly– I finally had a book series I loved that had a Fandom. I absolutely love The Hunger Games, Powerless, The Inheritance Games, Percy Jackson, Heroes of Olympus, Keeper of the Lost Cities and Maximum Ride.
As for my writing journey, as a kid I wrote realistic fiction books which, thankfully, never saw past the tenth chapter. After being introduced to fantasy, I began to write fantasy. I am currently writing two books, a fractured fairytale based off of Sleeping Beauty and a romance novel that’s actually being posted on Scratch (the first two chapters are on @saqe-wriites if anyone cares). I got super into poetry in the last year and a lot of my poems are posted on this account.
As for my music tastes, My mom is a Swiftie so I was bound to become a Swiftie. Alongside Taylor Swift, I also love Gracie Abrams and Olivia Rodrigo. Recently, however, I’ve become absolutely obsessed with Epic the Musical. My favorite saga is the Wisdom Saga, my favorite Taylor Swift album is evermore. As for Gracie and Olivia, I love TSOU and SOUR.
I’m not entirely sure why I’m writing about what type of YT I watch, but here we are. My all time favorite YTber is Cassie (@.cassiesbooktok)! I also love Rachel A.Ramras, who does Hunger Games videos, Lucie J Lass, who does comedy sketches, Sylvia (@.ailaughatmyownjokes) and other random people who do skits and things like that. One of the more random people I have been binging lately has been Content Machine (@.content_machine) because he’s just so funny. I also have a YT channel where I post edits. It’s not very successful because I’m not very good at making edits.
I feel like I’ve probably rambled enough about my fandoms, but hey, let's ramble some more, starting with ships! This is going to be a whole paragraph of fangirling, so feel free to skip
I ship the obvious ones, Sophie Foster and Keefe Sencen, Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase, Avery Grambs and Jameson Hawthorne, Peeta Mellark and Katniss Everdeen but I do have a few… unconventional ones. Much to my other potterhead friends’ disgrace, I ship Dramione and yes, I do have a fictional crush on Draco. You’re welcome. I ship Tam Song and Marella Redek, Dex Diznee and Biana Vacker but those ships are pretty tame. I used to ship Harry and Cho, but not anymore. The biggest problem is that I honestly don’t like Harry and Ginny. But that’s my opinion.
Now I’ll ramble on about my unpopular movie opinions because I still need 500 words and I have a lot of unpopular movie opinions. First of all, you all know I love Percy Jackson. I think Leah was the perfect cast for Annabeth and you honestly won’t convince me otherwise. She portrays her perfectly and the personality is on-spot. Walker was also an amazing Percy. Like his humor just makes me die laughing. You’ve seen the Kraft Mac and Cheese ad, right? Second of all, I loved the live action Snow White. Okay, but the dwarves creeped me out and Dopey irked me SO MUCH, so I see where the haters are coming from. Also, Rachel’s hair *sighs*. Other than that, I loved the movie. Okay next, I just watched Elio and I loved it. The only thing I had wrong with it was the Grigur guy’s non-shellified form because it just creeped me out. Next, I like Haikyuu!! but Kageyama’s bangs just tick me off. I love Kageyama, don’t get me wrong, but couldn’t the author draw his bangs a little better, please?!
(I’m running out of things to write about, bear with me)
Next, Duolingo! I am currently learning Mandarin on Duolingo. I have a 273 day streak and unfortunately am only in ruby. A long time ago, when I put so much effort into my Duolingo, I was in pearl and stayed there for two weeks! Then I just kept deteriorating and now, I’m in ruby *sighs*. I am currently in Section 3, Unit 2. I have the August 2024, July 2024, January 2025, March 2025 and June 2025 badge. I have three Sleepwalker badges, so that tells you something about my sleep schedule. My longest friend streak is with my irl friend and as of the time of this writing, we have a 90 day streak.
(Now I will be talking about more SWC related things because I’ve realize this entire intro is rambling)
I first discovered SWC in maybe November but most likely March. I was, unfortunately, too late for sign-ups in March so I said, ‘hey please ping me’ and then completely forgot about it until one day in June I got a message saying, ‘HEY, SWC SIGN-UPS ARE OPEN.’ I signed up and here we are! Script is definitely gonna win, guys. We have so many amazing, creative and talented writers in our cabin (and I’m not talking about me). Even if we don’t win, I’m sure I’ll have a great time, after all, I’ll be writing! Anyways, I just hit 1K, so good night (or morning for those Americans)!
<okay but y’all it’s so late here I’ve barely missed the midnight mark>

1k intro attempt I never finished so I guess I'll leave it like this
Hi everyone! Welcome to my 1k intro!
As you might know, I'm Lyra, I use she/her pronouns, and this is my second swc session! I did write a 1k intro last session so this isn't my first time trying it, but last time I went off-tiopc XD.
In my opinion, my nickname tells a lot about me. I chose it because it is a constellation which represents a musical instrument and also because it is the name of the main character in the his dark materials series. As you might have deducted, I love astronomy, music and reading.
Here's a list of my hobbies and likes.
Reading, I like adventure, sci-fi, real-fi, dystopian, apocalyptic and fantasy. My favourite books include the ickabog, the hunger games series, his dark materials, and some books that were written in Spanish or Catalan and haven't been translated. Writing, I use to write in these genres because they are the ones I'm most familiar with.
I play the piano and the violin, I have relative pitch and I like listening to music too.
I also love science, astronomy and quantum physics being my favourite branches of it. I just love how the biggest and the smalles things in our universe are so related. (in case you were wondering, my username is the name of a meteor shower that's related to the lyra constellation)
I like drawing too, and I prefer traditional art, with a pencil and a paper or sketchbook, over digital art. It's true that digital tools make everything easier but I also feel that traditional art is more valuable and takes more effort, and people can steal your digital art easily if you share it.
My favourites! Favourite color: blue or lavender purple. Favourite fruit: mango! Favourite ice cream flavor: mango again of course! Favourite subject: physics and chemistry (I'd love to have astronomy class too)
I discovered swc thanks to Skylar's post in the collaborations forum about a “science event thingy”. I wanted to know what it was and it turned out it was sxc. I also clicked on some profiles and found swc. I love how being in the forums helped me discover this wonderful camp and it's community.
Yes, I was a forumer. I've been a part of many scratch communities so far, because when I first joined and discovered them I wanted to try everything. I'm in the coding community, I've been in the art community, the character design community, the roleplay community and the community helpers (I've curated the propose projects to be featured studio more than once). But I've left most of these, though you might still find me adding projects in pptbf or answering questions in the forums. And, of course, I'm in the swc community.
This is unfinished and I don't have enough motivation so I'll leave it like this

Well, time for a one thousand word intro… this is going to be absolute torture because I can barely write 500 words without sobbing violently. Okay, so I'm Aezrielle, but people can also call me Aez, Aezra, Cain, Starrii, Ace and Spade, I know that's a lotta names, but a lot of people only call me Aezrielle, Aez or Aezra. I feel like if I keep on ranting that might work, so I don't disclose my age, and I'm in the EST timezone. I'm mostly a fantasy writer, but right now, I'm working on a fiction book taking place in 1904 called “Hurry Up, Johnson!” (105 words).
The entirety of my life seems to rotate around Tally Hall. Tally Hall is a wonky rock band from the early 2000's consisting of Joe Hawley as the guitarist and vocalist, Zubin Sedghi as the bassist and vocalist, Rob Cantor as the sub-guitarist and vocalist, Ross Federman as a drummer, and Andrew Horowitz as the keyboardist and sub-vocalist. They met in Michigan, even if Andrew is from New Jersey and they named the band after a food court in Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical museum, which was also the place they named their first album after. Alongside this, the Tally Hall Internet show was born, and- wait- I'm ranting about Tally Hall whoops guys!! I didn't mean to do that!! Oops!! (227 words)
One thousand is actually a lot of words when you think about it, because what the hell are you supposed to write about? Yourself? Like- it's VERY scary for me. Especially when you don't want to seem egotistical. Do I just rant about my interests? Because that sounds a bit boring to me, I don't think I can write a thousand words on Tally Hall or The Amazing Digital Circus or Deltarune or something like that. It's difficult. (306 words)
Okay, so another one of my interests are The Amazing Digital Circus. Which basically, if you don't know, it's when someone who doesn't remember their name gets zapped into the digital circus. They go by the name Pomni now, and they're super relatable. MY FAVORITE CHARACTER IS GANGLE AND NO ONE CAN TELL ME OTHERWISE. SHE IS SUCH A BABY I LOVE HER SO MUCH PLEASE LET ME HOLD HER PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!! You all have no idea how much I love that show. Also, can we all collectively call Ragatha “Stupidgatha”? Because Stupidgatha sounds so much funnier than Ragatha and that's absolute GOLD. (413 words)
Lowk- Hawaii Part II is such a banger album. The entire story of it consists of a dude named Simon going to Hawaii. He meets someone who's a real baddie named Stella, and they get together. But like- Simon dissociates or something and kills Stella. Then Simon is arrested and subjected to electrical shock therapy. He goes crazy and tries to find Stella again. He dies in the process, but the album is still a banger. I think my favorite song from that album has to be either White Ball, Murders, Space Station Level 7 or Stranded Lullaby. Stranded Lullaby legit calms me down so much and the vocals scratch just the right spot in my brain oh my goshhh. Tell me why Joe's voice sounds so angelic there? And the subtle grittiness of it legit will send me into a coma. Did I mention I sang White Ball with someone in front of a bunch of people? Ofc I did, because I love singing and such. We practiced for like 2 weeks and it was so worth it to be up there and sing one of our favorite songs. Also I hit that D3 <33 (611 words)
Speaking of singing, I'm in an advanced singing group that's really difficult to get into, and it's genuinely horrifying to see that I have a killer range. My range is over 3 octaves and it's from D3 all the way to A6, which is more than Taylor Swift. I HAVE A LARGER RANGE THAN TAYLOR SWIFT AND I'M ABOUT HALF HER AGE!! Also- can we talk about how Taylor is like- almost 40? But I'm not a swiftie, I actually kinda hate Taylor's music not gonna lie. It's not really good in my opinion and her vocals are kinda bland. But hey, that's just me! (718 words)
I'm circling back to Tally Hall now because there are a lotta AUs and my autism creature is Grey from the Starry Hall AU. Basically my headcanon is that Grey's growth was stunted, meaning he didn't grow as well as the other Starries, leaving to the inability to create stars properly, the white hair, and how he gets dizzy easily. He's so small and adorable too!! Why do the starries make fun of him?? HE'S JUST A SMALL BABY!! I LOVE HIM SO MUCH AND HE DESERVES THE WORLD. HE'S IN MY PFP AND AUTOMATICALLY DESERVES A HUG, SOMEONE GIVE HIM A HUG NOW. I LOVE HIM SO MUCH AND HE DESERVES ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING. I LOVE HIM SO MUCH OMG, GUYS YOU HAVE NO IDEA. HE CAN'T MAKE STARS PROPERLY, BUT THAT'S OKAY BECAUSE HE'S LEGIT MY AUTISM CREATURE. SOMEONE YELL AT THE OTHER STARRIES AND TELL THEM NOT TO MAKE FUN OF GREY BECAUSE THAT'S MEAN. Also Grey is so autism-coded. I gotta add that, because I JUST SEE HIM WITH AUTISM BECAUSE OF THE NEURODEVELOPMENTAL ISSUES <3 Like omggg (901 words)
Well, I got about 100 words left to write and it's very difficult to think of another 80 words. So how about this: A small recap. Hi, I'm Aezrielle, but a lot of people call me different things, I like Tally Hall and it's AUs, Will Wood, Singing, Writing, Art, The Amazing Digital Circus, the story in Hawaii Part II, psychology and more! Feel free to swing by and chat with me! I'm always open to making new friends and meeting new people! Anyways, thank you for reading my 1k intro! I hope you all have a wonderful day and drink LOTS of water!!

Prisha's Thread
Daily 1: 1K Intro (1004 words)
AAHH I DON’T KNOW HOW TO START A 1K INTRO WITHOUT SOUNDING REALLY AWKWARD. Anyways, (casually ignoring mental breakdown), let’s talk about me. My name is Prisha (she/her) — as you probably guessed from the username — and other than your average swcer things like reading and writing, I also enjoy art, playing the violin, and swimming. I’m determined to be more active this session than I was in March (I didn’t even enter the writing competition *sobs*), starting with… attempting a 1K intro. Wait, is the “k” capitalized? Or am I just overthinking it? OR WAS THIS MY EVIL PLAN ALL ALONG TO GET MORE WORDS?
I’m also determined to not state the obvious in this intro (like how I don’t know how this mess will turn into 1k words ), so let’s talk about my username. Obviously, Prisha is my nickname, but it’s also my real name (let’s ignore that I’m giving away personal information). In fact, before SWC, I didn’t even know coming up with a new nickname for Scratch was actually a thing, and by then I had already been active on SWC, so I just went by Prisha.
However, “juni” isn’t my last name (or middle name) — I actually joined Scratch when I was really little (you thought you could know my age— haha) with this coding program called Juni Learning. Back then, I was a big nerd, so of course I used to be really good at coding. I started learning with the block code here on Scratch, then moved to Python. However, I found Scratch a lot more fun, so I would make projects here and there. There was a point when I was completely inactive, though, and I completely forgot about Scratch until my friend started talking about it.
After that, I decided to go back to Scratch and actually make projects. I figured out what studios were (which I used to find really daunting) and posted decent projects. This is why, after six years of Scratch, my followers are still in the hundreds (I don’t understand how you extremely talented people do it!).
As usual, this has gotten completely off topic (or has it— it’s still about me, technically…), so let’s get back on track talking about my hobbies. I used to be really into art, but now it kind of feels meh to me. However, I’m trying to get back into it with SAC, a low commitment art camp for artists of all skill levels. You don’t need to know anything—we’ll teach you everything! We also have wacky art prompts for more advanced artists, and the best part— the camp was inspired by SWC! Check it out here: https://scratch.mit.edu/studios/50667069/comments
Alright, now that the promotional video is over, let’s continue to talk about my hobbies. I love playing the violin (my school’s orchestra program is really, REALLY good), and although many people say it’s the “hardest instrument”, I find it moderately easy. However, I don’t really have any other instruments to compare it to— the violin is the only instrument I currently play. Any recommendations for what instruments I should pick up next?
I also swim, although I only picked it up recently (sobs in unathletic). This year, I’m also determined (ugh, that word pops up so many times in this intro) to become more athletic, although as a professional nerd, I doubt that will happen. Me and my parents are more interested in science, books, etc, although I despise math. Like, seriously. I can see how some people find it interesting, but it really bores me.
AAH HOW IS IT ONLY SIX HUNDRED SOMETHING WORDS? Wait… SIX HUNDRED MEN! Six hundred words under my command… Speaking of which, let’s talk about my new obsession with epic the musical, which is particularly unusual for me. I’m not much of a musical person (that’s my sister) — I remember seeing one when I was really little and complaining that there was “too much singing”. However, everything about this musical was amazing— from the characters to the potential ships to the songs themselves. Other than Ody, my favorite member of the cast was MICO/ Telemachus, but Anna Lea/ Penelope definitely comes in second.
That leads to… A NEWLY UNVEILED EPIC THE MUSICAL SHIP! This is the ship that I one hundred percent ship… Antinous and Poseidon! Okay, hear me out: ignoring the crazy godly age gap because Greek mythology is just crazy like that, they both have similar motives: they want Odysseus dead. Also, in “Hold Them Down”, Antinous sings, “Only the ocean and I will know”, suggesting that maybe— just maybe —Antinous and Poseidon are working together, or even better: in a relationship!
Due to this newfound love for musicals, I’m thinking about trying Hamilton or Hadestown, but I don’t know how to watch them. Should I just listen to the soundtrack? Or try to watch the movie version? I heard some theatre geek ranting about how people who watch Hamilton on Disney+ aren’t hardcore, but there’s no way I’ll be able to convince my parents to let me watch a musical in person… And as for Hadestown, since it’s based on the tale of Orpheus and Eurydice, I know the ending is going to be really unsatisfying. Am I ready to torture myself like that? Hit the like and subscribe button to know more (couldn’t resist, sorry)!
NINE HUNDRED SOMETHING WORDS! Aww, dang it— now I can’t be like “SIX HUNDRED WORDS!” But seriously— how have I already written over nine hundred words? It kind of feels like a trance, or a lull. I saw this on someone’s intro, so I’m gonna do it to: a quick recap. My username is not what it seems, I used to be good at coding, join SAC or I’ll throw you into a potato sack, I like violin, I’m trying to be athletic and failing, and I love epic the musical. Bye!
Daily 2: Motivational Letter for @Strawberry-Lemon –sobs in socially awkward (267 words)
I don’t know how to start this, so I’m just going to dive right into it: you got this! Despite Slytherin being a disliked house, they value ambition— and clearly, so do you! I was really happy when I saw writing every day as one of your goals, because staying in practice and with the flow of writing is one of the best things you can do. Make sure to bring a notebook on vacation so that you can still write if the Wifi ain’t Wifi-ing— I made a huge mistake by only bringing my computer with me on vacation because, half of the time, my docs just wouldn’t load (it was a ten day trip *sobs*). And as for worldbuilding on your new novel— first, OMG YOU’RE WRITING A NOVEL? Second, don’t worry too much about the fancy specifics— keep it simple so that your brain doesn’t end up like mine! I can’t wait to read it (no rush, though). Completing three weeklies won’t be nearly as daunting or time consuming as it seems to be— if you write towards your weekly often throughout the week, you can also use that writing to count towards you writing everyday! Also, not to be a stalker, but I checked your profile and realized that you’re leading bi-fi this session! I went to the bi-fi wcg and saw your word goal— 20,000 words! Don’t fret too much about it, though— last session, I added up the words for my diary entries (which I did every day), and I reached my word goal really quickly. Good luck this session!
Weekly 2: 1477 words in total
Part 1: (214 words)
Quick Intro (still part of word count): I found the tale of Petrosinella fascinating because I remember reading it before and thinking about how similar it was to the tale of Rapunzel. In fact, I preferred the tale of Petrosinella over the story of Rapunzel because it gave the villain a better motive to steal the princess away. And, given my recent realization that I’m not over the movie, what better fairy tale to do?
As I said, I really liked how Petrosinella’s mother was actually an active character in the tale, whereas in Rapunzel, the princess’s family is a distant couple who are expected to treat a girl they haven’t seen since she was a baby like someone they’ve known for years. However, at the end of the story, Petrosinella runs off with her lover but seems to have forgotten to include her parents (or any mention of them) in her happy ending— while Rapunzel’s happy ending is centered around her family as well as her love. In addition, while Rapunzel’s tower is an isolated place in the woods, Petrosinella’s tower has a neighbor, or someone who can tell when Petrosinella is having an affair. I’m not sure how to feel about that— after all, the entire point of the tower was isolation.
Part 2: (225 words)
I’m going to be writing about the rose from Beauty and the Beast, so here we go! The rose is a beautiful red, which can symbolize love, passion, and desire. It ties to the romantic themes of the movie, but can also portray anger and aggression, which is shown in the movie when the Beast has random angry outbursts. As the petals slowly fall, the rose acts like the deadline or time limit for the movie. Many stories have these: like in Percy Jackson and the Olympians, where the battle against Kronos and his forces is prophesied to occur before/on Percy’s sixteenth birthday. This gives an urgent feel to the story and keeps the plot moving forward. As the bright red petals fall, it also symbolizes the loss of joy that comes with a lack of love, as shown in the icy cold colors of the castle in comparison to Belle and the rose. These colors symbolize the joy that loving Belle brings the Beast, who has been trapped in this icy castle by his own mistakes.
In summary, the red rose represents a lot of things with its color and slow loss of petals. Sometimes its color points to love and passion, while other times it represents anger and frustration. The color of the rose is crucial to the plot of the story.
Part 3: (509 words)
Belle kissed her father goodbye with tears in her eyes. “Make sure to bring me that rose!”
“Of course, my darling,” he called as he rode off on horseback.
Meanwhile, Gaston watched the fair maiden who was… just quite odd. She liked to read and farm and didn’t care about frilly dresses or him, for that matter. She was unique and unusual and… quite attractive. She was a prize, and Gaston was going to claim her.
Gaston watched as Belle tended to the garden beds and was scorned for teaching a girl to read. Ridiculous behaviour, but he would train it out of her once he married her.
“Sir, don’t you think this is becoming a bit ridiculous?” LeFou stammered out when Gaston told him the plan.
“You’re ridiculous,” Gaston snapped. “She will be mine, by force or willingly.” He winked at a few pretty maidens on his way, smirking when they went weak in the knees.
Gaston was handsome. Gaston was a good fighter. Everyone wanted him— but he wanted Belle.
“Hey, Belle,” he cooed, watching her hunch over to pull out some weeds. So pretty.
“What do you want, Gaston?” she snapped, glaring at her with fists clenched around the weeds in her hands.
Her temper was so violent and feisty. It would be so fun to break her spirit, watch her slowly become a meek and docile little thing.
He leaned in close, let himself inhale the quite nasty smell of dirt and labor. “Will you marry me?”
Her lip curled, and she moved backwards. “I’ve told you before, and I will continue to tell you— I will never marry you.”
“There’s not a lot left for an inventor’s daughter once he dies. Think about it— the entire town scorning you. Leaving you and sabotaging you!”
“I already experience that every day. If you want to help, stop that first.”
“But darling, I don’t want to help.” He leaned in closer. “I want to marry you.”
Belle pushed him away. “You’re disgusting. Leave me alone!”
Gaston strode away, strutting as he walked.
“Um, sir… I don’t think she’s interested,” LeFou whispers.
Gaston waves a hand dismissively. “Don’t be ridiculous! I’ve obviously charmed her so much that she has to push me away and confront her feelings.”
“But-”
“Shut up,” Gaston snapped. “She will be mine.”
When Belle and the Beast fell in love and defeated the angry mob of people who wanted to kill him for being a monster, they kissed. But here’s the thing— the evil witch who had cursed the Beast had wanted him to fall in love with her, so she had secretly made the spell in such a way that it could only be broken if he loved her.
When Belle and the Beast kissed, the witch told them this and left with an evil cackle. It took them months to process, but they realized that they loved each other anyways, and that was what really mattered. The inanimate objects still had their human characteristics, and they all lived happily ever after.
Part 4: Excerpt from one of my fairy tale ideas (529 words)
Once upon a time, in a realm high up above…
“Serephai!”
“Is it true that you won the dueling contest?”
“Oh my gosh— you’re so pretty!”
“Marry me!”
I grin as I walk through the hallway, confidence in my stride. I am the queen of this school, and everyone knows it. I make sure to grin at Liliana (poor girl, such an ugly face) and wink at some handsome boys who think they’re cool (they’re not).
You see, I’m so popular that I have the best problem ever— there’s no one who can meet my standards. It’s our last year of high school, so all the guys are eager to give me their numbers so we can “meet up sometime”. I accept them, of course, but the most I reply to their texts is a “not interested” that has them begging. If they’re exceptionally pretty, I might meet them at a coffee shop now and then— leading them on only to break their poor little hearts.
It’s not like they matter, anyways. I have a future ahead of me— scholarships lined up to the best magical universities. I’m going to study hard, flaunt boys, and become a goddess. And maybe then, if one of the boys puts their tiny, goldfish brains to use and becomes a god, I’ll think about seeing them.
But that’s all in the future. Let’s focus on today.
Classes go as usual— the math teacher trying to make me pay attention, the english language arts teacher praising my perfect prose, and, of course, the elemental teacher telling me that my magic will take me great places some day.
I’m about to start walking back home (you don’t stay this skinny by sitting around, after all) when a boy approaches me. He is shorter, one of the wimps who take “out of my league” to another level.
“Yes?” My heel taps impatiently— I have a skincare routine waiting at home and pilates to do.
“I was just, uh, wondering if you could, uh-”
“Spit it out, darling.” My temper is starting to grow with every minute that passes, every time he stutters and looks up at me in a pathetic awe.
“I was wondering if you could help me with… m-m-magic?”
“Join the club, darling. It’s at lunch every Wednesday, in Ms. Forrest’s classroom. Y’know, the one with the chic models?”
“Oh!” He flushes. “Actually, I was wondering if you could help me r-r-resurrect something?”
“If you want to go to jail, go ahead. I’m going home.” I leave thinking that he won’t dare to come back again.
He does. Over and over and over again, until I finally give up and snap, “What do you want to resurrect?”
He flushes. “M-My pet racoon.”
“Pet racoon? Who even keeps such pests around? I consider it a good thing it’s dead— it’s sparing the world from more torture.”

My inspo: “I Finished Turtles Faster Than Expected” by Sunclaw68
Turtles. Mysterious, shelled creatures with… scales? Do turtles have scales or is their skin just scaly? What’s the difference? Long ago, in the age of the deenosers— wait, a deenoser? What’s that? Ah, the all-knowing wise creatures who were wiped out by a fateful fart explosion from the evil anti-chicken dancers— how could I have forgotten? Anyways, as I was saying, long ago in the age of the deenosers, turtles swam in the salty ocean, relaxing and drinking… pina coladas? Yeah, that’s right— they were the ones who invented them— although the humans will never accept that. As they relaxed, they were infused with the all-knowing wisdom of the deenosers, and, therefore, are now the HOLY ALL KNOWING SPIRITS of the modern era! So, why am I bringing this up? Because there is also a set of holy, turtleine books written by them, ever so eloquently called “Turtles” (what an ingenious name!). Since I finished the books so quickly, they infused ME with the all knowing wisdom, meaning that I AM ONE WITH THE TURTLES! I now know the wonders of evading autocorrect with horrible spelling, procrastination, and pina colada brewing! Now, to complete the final trial, I must learn how to impress the chickens. Maybe I should chicken dance?
He looks down at his feet. “This one’s nice,” he whispers. “Please? I promise not to tell anyone…”
His lip wobbles as if he’s about to cry.
Ugh. What kind of person is he— a high schooler, crying over a raccoon.
“Fine. Take me there, but make it quick.”

Turtles. Mysterious, shelled creatures with… scales? Do turtles have scales or is their skin just scaly? What’s the difference? Long ago, in the age of the deenosers— wait, a deenoser? What’s that? 1st July - Introudction
Words Written: 2007/1000
Prompt: Happy July, and happy SWC!! It’s that time of the year filled with inside jokes, endless writing, and lots of memories to be made <3 To kick off the session, start by introducing yourself in the comments! Reconnect with people you haven’t talked to in a while, and meet someone new! We’re all so excited you’re here

⋆ ───────── ⋆✧ ⋆ ✶ ⋆ ✧ ⋆ ───────── ⋆
Hello!! I’m Skylar, and welcome to the International Planetary Union Headquarters here on Earth, although you might just want to call it Federation Headquarters for briefness - you must be the journalist that was coming to report on our goings on in the Space UN! Ah- I’m sorry, am I being a bit too overenthusiastic? Yeah, I figured. I’m rather relatable for a Secretary General, at least that’s what I’ve been told.
Anyways, I’m going to take you on a tour of our buildings - and oh, I’m Skylar, and I use She/Her pronouns by the way, I think I’ve said that already though. I’ve always had an interest in politics and debate, which led me to discovering the literal best activity on the planet: Model United Nations! I love debating and starting wars and doing all sorts of crazy stuff while I’m at a conference, I remember my committees doing various crazy things. I’ve been to three MUN conferences, and I’m going to my fourth tomorrow which is very exciting! It does mean I have to speedwrite a resolution tonight, but hey, words! I’m also currently on Secretariat for my school’s next conference, and I love getting to organise it! It does mean I can’t take part in debate though, which is really sad.
Oh! I forgot to mention, ahaha, I was too busy talking about MUN to actually properly introduce myself! Well, in case you didn’t know, I’m British and Chinese! I speak both English and Mandarin, but Mandarin is definitely lacking for me in terms of my language skills. Nevertheless, I love learning more about my heritage culture and language. In addition to that, I’m doing Biology, Chemistry, Maths, and Physics at school with the hopes to go into Civil Engineering in the future. I specifically hope to study in London, as it’s been one of the places I’d love to live in!
And speaking of London, I think this is the perfect time to literally ramble about my two main obsessions! Well, they come hand in hand, actually, so uh, you know.
Wait, I just realised - have we just been aimlessly pacing the garden for the past few minutes? Ah, I’m incredibly sorry, I sometimes forget these things, you see. No matter - anyways, here’s the first building! This building houses the main administrative parts of the Federation, so things such as bureaucracy - although we try to have none - and translators, and delegate services all live down here! It’s very busy, for it not being a committee room with delegates everywhere. And here is my office!
Sit down, I’ll get you some tea, and I’ll talk a bit more about myself. I’m so sorry for getting so sidetracked on this tour, so my apologies regarding that. Anyways! Tea - it’s my favourite drink, but I can make you coffee or water if you’d like? No? Okay. Well, tea is, very stereotypically, my absolute favourite drink. Okay - not favourite, but I do drink it a lot. And by a lot I mean I do sometimes drink up to three cups a day. Yeah. Uh. It’s maybe not healthy, but I have a high academic workload to keep up with and I can’t drop any of my subjects so you know. Anyways, I think tea should be made properly, and that means hot water, and a tea bag, and milk last. Always last. Milk first is just… disgusting. Black tea is alright.
Okay - uh - where were we? Oh, yes! London! That map behind me is a map of the London Underground, and it’s one of my favourite pieces of graphic design and maps. I love it so much. I like trains a lot, and public transit as well. That’s why I want to do civil engineering, because I love getting to build transport infrastructure and bridges and roads and everything. It’s so amazing! Anyways, I’ve been obsessed with trains since I was about 11? And it’s just continued and it was rekindled recently, actually. I can’t remember exactly how, but it did happen!
Aside from that map, there’s also a world map here and a model plane too! I think you can also tell I love planes and aviation. Spaceships are cool, but planes are cooler. I love the idea of getting to travel all around the world, and I’ve been to several places and can’t wait to go to more! My favourite plane is probably the A350 or the 787 Dreamliner, but I’d absolutely love to fly a 747 or an A380 - those planes are just icons, and it’s sad they’re being phased out of service now. My favourite places I’ve been are probably New Zealand and Taipei, Taiwan. Nothing really matches the feel of those places and I want to go back.
Alright! I think I’ve wasted enough of your time here, so my apologies, but the next place we’re going to go to is the music hall! I’m not sure if you’ve been before, but there’s a concert later tonight and you can come down if you want! While we’re on our way there, though, I think it would be a perfect chance for me to talk about my music taste!
If you didn’t know already, I’m a Christian, and I love listening to worship music. I also like hymns as well, my favourites being Be Thou My Vision, Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing and the Sovereign Grace version of All Creatures of our God and King! There are so many more worship songs that I like - they’re all so so so good, if you know what I mean, and I love singing every single song in Church!
I also listen to things that aren’t worship music, my music taste isn’t that narrow! But hey. Anyways, my favourite western artists are Taylor Swift, Owl City, Gracie Abrams, The Script, and Coldplay! I’m very into the pop/rock and synthpop scene, and I have my favourites from all these artists! However, my absolute favourite song is probably Something Just Like This by Coldplay and The Chainsmokers! I love the song, and everything about it, and it got me to fall in love with Coldplay, so there’s some nostalgia there too.
Anyways, my favourite Taylor songs are Message in a Bottle, Come Back… Be here, State of Grace, Treacherous, and a few others! As for Gracie Abrams, I love love love Mess it Up and Risk. For Owl City, my favourite songs are Fireflies, On The Wing, Shooting Star, Lucid Dream, and a few others. And Coldplay!! I love Coldplay, my favourite song is Something Just Like This but I also love Yellow, Every Teardrop is a Waterfall, Hurts Like Heaven, My Universe, and probably more that I can’t think of off the top of my head! And The Script!! I love Superheroes, I also love Wonders and Rock the World.
I’ve also recently got into Kpop, thanks to Yume and Jiyeon! My favourite groups are IZ*ONE, IVE, LOONA, ARTMS, and a few others here and there! My favourite kpop songs are probably Star by LOONA, Love Dive, Will, and After Like by IVE, Virtual Angel by ARTMS, and Airplane by IZ*ONE! Also, Airplane is my Kpop anthem - like, you will literally not find a more Skylar-coded song out there. I also love WJSN! My favourite song is I Wish, and I love the Chinese version even more.
And Kpop aside, I also listen to Cpop music too! I’m currently working my way through AKB48 Team TP’s full discography, and my favourite cpop girl group is AKB48 Team SH! My favourite Mandarin language pieces of music are I Wish (Chinese Ver) by WJSN, Love Trip by AKB48 Team SH, Galaxy and Stars by Yihuik, and a few others!
Alright - uh, it looks like we can move on from this hall - ah yes, the General Assembly room! I’m not sure how much you know of the General Assembly, but it’s where every delegate meets to discuss things formally. While you’re here, it might be a good chance for me to discuss all the communities I’ve been in across these… nearly ten years on this website! And four years of SWC, although I took a break in 2024. Anyways, this is my tenth session of SWC, and if you couldn’t already tell, I’m leading Apocalyptic! I love the SWC community, everyone is so kind and welcoming, and you’ll make friends quite quickly here!
Enough said about that - what about other things I’m involved in? Well, I’d also consider myself part of the wider “Scratch Camp” community, where it’s just a gang of us who participate in far too many camps. We host a lot, and we lead, and we camp, and we just generally have fun! Another community I’m in, and one I’ve just recently joined, is the spop community! Spop is a Kpop roleplay, but here on Scratch! I joined it because Yume and Jiyeon were just too. insistent. that I join. And so, I joined! I’ve met so many amazing people there, some of whom are in this camp - so hello, all you spopers out there!
In the past, I’ve also been involved in the roleplay community and I used to highly enjoy doing that! I loved getting to be different characters and write stories with other people, although I rarely join roleplays now. I was also a forumer, as you can probably tell from the over-elaborate bbcoding on this post, ahaha. I have to impress my 11-year-old self with my bbcode skills every single time, so hey. Anyways, it makes for aesthetic posts so yay!!
Alright - one last thing, before we move on and talk about one more thing. But I wanted to thank absolutely everyone I’ve made friends with, through SWC, foruming, or another community, for being there for me. Some of the people I’d consider my friends in SWC would be my dearest cos, Fini, Ris, and Jiyeon, who are so absolutely incredibly amazing! And then, also Hope. I’ve known Hope for what… four years now? I know how we met, but I can’t remember when - and here we are, SWC leaders together! We’ve come a long way since the requests forums. Anyways, moving on - the other SWC leaders this session, in particular Yume, Encryn, Alana, Liv, Sophia, Ivory, and more. Then, there are the other SWCers! Sage, I love you so much. And then Lora, Zoe, Gigi, Mouse, and so so many more of you.
Anyways, enough of me being sentimental here. We’re going back out into the sun so we can talk a bit more about the rest of this place! Or well- not place, but anyways. Here you go, through this door - yep, yep, yep! Alright!! Welcome to the sun, and one thing that you probably don’t know about me is that I figure skate! I do it for fun, but I’m currently learning my salchow and my upright spin, and it is very fun! I wish I could do it more though.
Ah, well it seems like we’ve just about reached the end of our tour together. You’re free to wander the grounds for as long as you like, and let me know if you have any more questions - I’m always happy to answer any of them! Well, please, explore as much as you like, feel free to go into the viewing galleries for the committee rooms, and all in all, just enjoy your time here. I look forwards to reading whatever report you’ll come up with about the goings on here. Anyways, it also looks like I have to run - I’ve got another press conference, you see. Well, it was nice meeting you, and I’d love to chat further, but Fini, Ris, and Jiyeon are waiting for me at the podium, and I’m running a bit behind. I hope you can understand this. Alright. Thank you so much for spending some time with me and listening to my continuous rambling - I do ramble a lot, as you can probably tell. Alright, goodbye, and see you around!

July 24 – Retell a Myth
444 words
Every year, fourteen youths were sent from Athens to Crete to be killed by the Minotaur. This year, Theseus was one of them. But he had a plan to defeat the Minotaur. Well, sort of. The plan was just “defeat the Minotaur.” He hadn’t worked out the details yet.
He’d need a weapon to kill the Minotaur, be he hadn’t been able to bring one with. And the Minotaur was kept in a labyrinth, so once he killed it, he’d need to be able to find his way out.
He was thinking of this in the waiting room before the labyrinth when a cat walked in. She was a beautiful cat, with a tortoiseshell coat and tuxedo markings. Her name was Ariadne, and she belonged to King Minos of Crete himself.
“Hey, kitty,” said Theseus. Ariadne chirped at him, then rubbed against his legs.
He bent down to pet her, and she started purring. “Nice kitty. You don’t have any idea how to defeat the minotaur, do you?”
Ariadne stopped purring and looked up at him, then chirped again and walked out of the room. She paused in the doorway and looked back at him, as if to say, follow me.
So Theseus followed her into a room with a large ceremonial sword mounted on the wall. Theseus walked over to the sword and pulled it down. “This is great! Thanks!”
Ariadne chirped and batted her ball of yarn at him, then meowed insistently. He picked it up.
“You want me to have this?”
She meowed again.
Theseus hung onto the ball of yarn as he entered the labyrinth, and as he did, he realized what to do with it.
King Minos was furious when he found Theseus had killed the Minotaur and escaped the labyrinth. And he recognized the yarn Theseus had used to escape — it was the same yarn his cat liked to play with. Then when he looked for Ariadne, she was gone.
Ariadne had joined Theseus on his boat. But they already had a ship’s cat, who Ariadne didn’t get along very well with, so Theseus abandoned her on the island of Naxos.
Ariadne meowled mournfully as she walked the beach. How could Theseus be so heartless?
Dionysus happened to be passing by, and he took notice of her meowling.
“What’s wrong, kittycat?” he asked. “How’d you end up on this island?” He reached a hand out to her, and she sniffed it, then nuzzled him.
“You are a pretty kitty,” said Dionysus, petting her. “And sweet. How’d you like to live with me?”
She chirped.
So Dionysus adopted Ariadne and made her immortal, and they lived happily ever after.

“Honey, how many chairs do we need?” called Marcy.
“Uh… Let me see…” Marc started counting on his fingers with one hand while stirring the soup with the other. “There’s my dads, Grandma Guitarella and Grandpa Michael, Marco, Marcella…” He frowned. “I’m out of fingers.”
“So that’s six,” said Marcy, walking into the kitchen. “Who else?”
“Aunt Liz is seven, your parents make eight— no, nine, cousin Marchi is ten… Did I forget anyone?”
“Yes — us! So you and me make twelve, plus the twins…”
“We can find an extra ten chairs somewhere, right?”
“I hope so.”
It was Marc and Marcy’s turn to host the Mangosen family reunion, their first time hosting it in years, and the pressure was on.
“Are you still working on the sweaters?” asked Marc.
Marcy sighed. “I think I’ll have to give up. I can’t knit another two sweaters in the next three hours — especially not while getting everything else ready. I’ll have to save them as presents for next time.”
“Can you take a turn with the soup?” asked Marc. “I need to make sure the goats are secure.”
“Right. We don’t want a repeat of last time.”
“No.” Marc shuddered. His family would never let him forget the Great Goat Escape of Thanksgiving ’21. This reunion had to be extra good to make up for it. That’d show Marcella.
July 19 – Someone Else's Title
“i married a frying pan on accident” - AmazaEevee
369 words
You know the old “Bloody Mary” game? I’ve done it at sleepovers before. I’m really way too old for it now, but I was bored of listening to Slipknot and Korn for hours, and okay, fine, I was lonely and sulking and, you know how Bloody Mary’s supposed to tell you who you’re going to marry? I wanted that.
So I went into the bathroom, turned the lights off and lit some candles while snacking on a cookie, and said “Bloody Mary” three times, not expecting anything to happen (it never had before), but then I realized I didn’t remember how many times you were supposed to say it — nine? Thirteen? So I kept going.
Around the thirteenth or thirteenth time, a pale face appeared in the mirror. I gasped.
“Is that a cookie?” said the face in the mirror. “I haven’t had a cookie in forever. Give it here.”
I clutched the cookie to my chest. “Not unless you give me something in return.”
“What do you want?” she said. I noticed she was wearing something like a bathrobe and had a fluffy towel wrapped around her head. “A husband? I can do husbands.”
“What? I mean, that would be nice— I mean— If I can choose what he’s like.”
“Well, what do want? Go on, describe him.”
I thought for a moment. “Funny. Good at cooking. Metalhead. Hot.”
“Great. Now, gimme the cookie, and I’ll give you that husband.”
I looked from her to the cookie to her again. “You promise?”
“Yeah, yeah, promise.”
“Okay.” I held the cookie out to the mirror, and a ghostly-white hand reached out and grabbed it.
“Score! Now, you want your husband?”
“Yeah.”
“You have to say I do.”
I sighed. “I do.”
“Cool.” She snapped her fingers and then vanished.
“Hey!” I called. “Where is he?”
Nothing.
I turned the bathroom light on. There, sitting on the counter, was a cast iron skillet with a bowtie around its neck.
“What?” I said out loud. “This isn’t what I…”
Good at cooking. Metalhead. It wasn’t hot, but if I put it on the stove…
*. What a waste of a perfectly good cookie. Although a good frying pan could be handy.
July 17 – Modernize a Classic
561 words
“He’s here!” Cathy yelled. Hindley ran to join her at the rain-spattered window, and they watched as their father’s car pulled into the driveway. Their mother went to unlock the door.
Their father climbed out of the car, followed by another figure about Cathy’s height.
“Who’s that with him?” asked Hindley. As the two figures walked up the front steps, Cathy and Hindley ran to the door to meet them.
Mr. Earnshaw opened the door. “I’m home! I missed you!” He pulled his children into a hug.
“You brought him?!” said Mrs. Earnshaw. Behind Mr. Earnshaw stood a scowling little boy.
“I couldn’t just leave him there! Everyone, meet Heathcliff.”
The little boy growled.
“Who is he?” Cathy demanded.
“You didn’t tell me you were bringing him back with you!” said Mrs. Earnshaw.
“Didn’t we talk about this?”
“I never agreed to this! You can’t just—”
“Honey, please—”
“What’s going on?” Hindley interrupted. “Is this what you were talking on the phone about?”
Mr. Earnshaw hung up his coat. “So, I was in Chicago on a business trip, right? And I thought while I was at it, I’d check up on my old friend there. So I try to call him, but he doesn’t answer, so I try his apartment. Turns out he hasn’t lived there in a while. So I ask around, and I find out he and his wife died in a car accident a few months ago. Their son didn’t have anyone to take care of them, he was in foster care, and I thought, wouldn’t it only be right to take in the poor kid? So I call the agency—”
“You adopted him?!” said Mrs. Earnshaw.
“No, no, not yet, we’re just fostering him for now—”
“Then we can send him back!”
“Daddy!” said Cathy. “Where are our presents?”
“Oh, uh, check my suitcase. Now, honey,” — he turned back to his wife — “he’s been through a lot, we should…”
Cathy and Hindley rummaged through the suitcase, and when that still didn’t yield anything, they dumped its contents on the floor and kept looking.
Cathy pulled on her father’s sleeve. “Daddy, they’re not here!”
“What? Oh, well, try my coat pockets.”
So Cathy and Hindley looked through the coat pockets. Hindley pulled out a video game console with a cracked screen.
“It’s broken!” Hindley cried. “Dad!”
“Oh, shoot, something must've happened on the way…”
Cathy stamped her foot. “These pockets aren’t big enough for a furby!”
“Oh, right, you wanted a furby.” Mr. Earnshaw rubbed his temples. “Sorry, with everything with Heathcliff, I just forgot.”
“No fair!” Cathy wheeled on Heathcliff and spat on him. He hissed at her.
“Catherine!” shouted Mr. Earnshaw. “That’s disgusting! Apologize right now!”
“I won’t!” Cathy stomped off to her room.
“We can’t just keep this kid!” said Mrs. Earnshaw. “I mean, you can’t just—”
Mr. Earnshaw sighed. “Look, it’s late, we’re all tired, can we talk about this in the morning?”
Mrs. Earnshaw huffed. “Where is he going to sleep?”
“He can share Hindley’s room,” said Mr. Earnshaw.
“What?!” said Hindley. “No he can’t!”
“You have the bigger room, son. Now, go show him the way while I get out the air mattress.”
“Fine.” Hindley grabbed the boy by the arm and dragged him up the stairs. Once they were out of his parents’ earshot, he hissed, “you’re staying in the hall.”

“This job is too dangerous for how they pay us,” said Bob. “We lost four guys in the last week, while the specialists didn’t lose any. This isn’t fair and this isn’t right. You know what we need?”
“Fewer monster attacks?” suggested Jim.
“No! Well, that too. But what we really need is a union.”
The other guards chattered and murmured, considering.
“So! All in favor of unionizing, raise your hand!”
About two thirds of the group raised their hands.
“Great! We have a majority. Now we just need to make cards.”
“Are you sure that’s all we need to make it official?” asked Alice.
“Um…” Bob frowned. “We’ll figure it out. Now, who’s gonna make the cards?”
“Uh…”
“How about a list of demands?” said John.
“Yeah, like, what do we want?” said Carol.
“Longer vacation time?” said Jim.
“Better food!” called Alex.
“New shirts!” said Danny. “These ones look stupid.”
“No!” said Bob. “The problem is, our people die too often! Way more than anyone else! That’s what we’re trying to solve here!”
“How about better health insurance?” said John.
“How about better life insurance,” said Alice.
“I know!” said Susan. “We just need to kill other people!”
Everyone looked at her.
“Why would we do that?” said Carol.
“Because then that’ll make their casualty rates higher. And then ours won’t be the lowest.”
“Huh. She has a point,” said Alex.
Everyone else shook their heads.
“Maybe we could just ask them to pay us more?” said Jim. “Because it’s so risky and all.”
“And we should ask for new uniforms while we’re at,” said Danny. “I mean, who wants to wear bright red shirts?”

Why would I steal Smarlls’s mangoes? What would I even do with that many mangoes? Feed them to my goats? The goats might like that, but I’m not sure it would be good for them.
Anyway, of course I didn’t do it. Do you seriously suspect me? But fine, I guess I’ll play along. I guess it would be unprofessional for you to play favorites.
Wait, are you suspicious of me because of the whole Kevin thing? Not Kevin the Script camper, the other Kevin, the enemy of the ITP. Maybe you’re just looking for excuses to lock me up, after I refused to censor Kevin when you asked.
Wait, I’m probably making this worse. Forget about the Kev*n thing. Look, I even censored it that time, even though I believe that’s wrong. Because I’m cooperating with you. Because I definitely didn’t break the law.
Anyway. I’m innocent.
Where was I when the theft took place? I was out walking my goats. Sometimes goats demand a midnight stroll. I mean, I couldn’t sleep, so I thought I might as well take them for a walk.
I was seen near the crime scene? By whom? Was it Ayla? She’s probably lying. I wouldn’t trust her if I were you.
Okay, okay, I was near Smarlls’s mango stash that night. But I wasn’t stealing them or feeding them to my goat herd. We were just walking by.
I did see something on my walk, though. Ayla and Chuey, whispering conspiratorially. I said hi to them, and Ayla looked very suspicious, like she’d been caught doing something wrong. She was all like, “Oh hey, Kit! What are you doing here? We’re just talking about… uh… Sci-Fi stuff!” Very suspicious.
Also, Ayla’s already a criminal. One time she stole this doll from my room. Then she felt bad about it and told our mom, and our mom made her give it back. So you can probably guilt her into confessing. She hates lying.
Surf might be in on it too, not sure. It doesn’t seem like something they’d do, but who knows. Ayla and Chuey though, they definitely would.
What? This food on my shirt? Oh, it’s, uh, definitely not mango. It’s peach. I was just eating a peach.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go feed my goats.

“Yes, I know that he’s my ex, but can’t two people reconnect?”
“Oh, Nina, Nina.”
“I miss the way he kisses and the way he made me laugh.”
“The best thing is to break up with the guy.”
“He’s got a degree in economics, maths, physics, and bionics.”
“Yeah? Well, I hear he’s bad.”
“He’s good-bad, but he’s not evil.”
“The jokes that he told across the bar were revolting and far too loud.”
“Yeah yeah, but he’s drop-dead gorgeous.”
I wish you thought my face was gorgeous… Don’t wish. Don’t start. Wishing only wounds the heart. She’s the straightest girl in town.
“He had an ego and a temper and a wandering eye.”
“I know he’s crazy but he’s the one I want.”
“You don’t know what you deserve.” Wish she was mine, she looks so good. With flaming locks of auburn hair, with ivory skin and eyes of emerald green.
“I can fix him.”

July 8 – Omit a Letter

You know the SWC mascot who eats links? I can’t say his name, but you know who I mean. He’s the one who almost ate the whole camp a few sessions ago. And if I use this one symbol, he’ll eat all the things I make this session, all the dailies and weeklies and fanfics. I don’t know why this specific symbol will cause it, but it will. I guess it’s the one in the alphabet that he likes most.
It’s quite annoying. It’s quite a common symbol, too, and I keep almost using it without meaning to. A couple times I used it without noticing; luckily, good old Google Docs look-and-find found them so I could change them on time.
Speaking of time, I’m low on it. How many minutes do I still have to get this daily done? Not many. This has to be… how long? I’m only halfway to being done! I guess I still have time.
Hopefully once I submit this daily, I can defeat the mascot. I could attempt to do it now, but then I wouldn’t have enough time to finish this daily. So I have to make do without this symbol until then.
It would be nice to have some help defeating him. Maybe she can help, the one who is the session theme, the one with the fancy house. You know, the doll made by Mattel? Who got a movie in 2023 that was a huge hit but I wasn’t a fan of? She’s good at all the things. I know because of the show Life in the Fancy House, which isn’t what it’s called but I can’t use the actual name. I bet she could defeat the mascot. Is she still at that picnic? I’ll check at the picnic.
Is this long enough? Yes? Huzzah! Now I’m off to defeat that mascot.
July 7 – Forgiveness
469 words
“Spike! Great! So glad you’re here!” said Xander as Spike entered the magic shop.
Spike scoffed. “Very funny. Now, what’s going on?” He leaned over the table strewn with books and papers. “You investigating that demon?”
Willow nodded. “Do you know what it could be? Since you, you know, have some experience.”
“It was weird.” Buffy frowned. “It didn’t attack us. Just blasted us with that light and, poof, ran off.”
Spike shrugged. “Didn’t recognize it.”
“That reminds me,” said Willow, “I wanted to say, I forgive you. We all do. We may have had our disagreements in the past…”
“Like all those times you tried to kill us,” added Xander. “But we all forgive you now. You’re our friend.”
Spike stared at them. “Is this some kind of joke?”
“What? No!” Willow’s eyes widened. “Of course not.”
Xander nodded. “Yeah, why wouldn’t we mean it?”
“How thick do you think I am? I heard you tonight. ‘Just because he can’t hurt anyone now, you think we can be best friends?’ Don’t pretend you don’t hate me.”
“We don’t hate you! That was earlier, okay? I forgive you now.”
“Oh, yeah, you’ve had a change of heart in the last fifteen minutes.”
“Yes!”
“C’mon, Spike,” Willow pleaded, “we want to all be friends!”
“We’re gonna go to the Bronze tomorrow night,” said Xander. “And we were hoping you could come with.”
“Oh, you think you’re funny, do you!” Spike snarled. “Pretend we all like Spike! Try to say it with a straight face! Good luck with your bloody demon.” He stalked toward the door.
Buffy stood up. “Spike, wait!”
“Oh, so you can continue with your game? What, slayer, are you going to tell me how you love me? Pretend you’re that bloody robot?”
“Ew, no—”
He left, slamming the door behind him.
And yet, the next evening, he went to the Bronze.
He stayed away from Buffy and the gang at first, and was playing at the pool table when Buffy walked up to him.
“We figured out what that demon was,” she said.
“Yeah?”
“It was a forgiveness demon. That’s why Willow and Xander were acting like that—its magic made them forgive you.”
“There’s a demon for that?”
Buffy shrugged. “Apparently. Kinda outside the usual murder and vengeance. Willow found a spell to undo its magic, so it’s back to normal now.”
“Right. You’re back to hating me.”
“I don’t hate you. I don’t think Willow and Xander do either. Just… moderately dislike you.”
“Lovely.”
“I don’t know about them,” Buffy continued, “but I kinda forgave you a long time ago.”
“Really.”
“I mean, after everything, you helping us, looking after Dawn… Yeah, I forgive you.”
“Well.” Spike blinked. “Uh. That’s nice.” He smirked. “I suppose I can forgive you for trying to kill me too, Slayer.”
July 6 – Spoof of Famous Book
313 words
Badweather Hills
Katie and Hinkley are excited when their father returns from the city with presents. Unfortunately, the present is a little boy he found with no apparent owner. Katie and Hinkley decide this is inacceptable, because they really wanted those presents they asked for, so they decide they hate the boy. Which is easy to do, since he’s not exactly friendly.
Their dad insists on keeping this stray child, and names him Plaincrag. While Hinkley still hates him, Katie decides she actually likes Plaincrag, maybe because she doesn’t know anyone else her own age, or maybe because they both like causing trouble.
Then one day Katie and Plaincrag are spying on the neighbor kids when the neighbor’s dog attacks them, and Katie ends up staying with said neighbors for awhile. Then she decides she likes them and invites them over all the time, and Plaincrag is grumpy and jealous.
Also, Katie’s father dies and Hinkley takes over Badweather Hills, and gets to work on ruining Plaincrag’s life. Plaincrag is not happy about this. He’s extra unhappy because now Katie is better than him, and he hears her say it would degrade her to marry him. He walked in at exactly the wrong moment, because he hears that part but not the part about how much she likes him.
It turns out Katie got engaged to the neighbor boy, Egbert. Katie is unsure about this decision, and the housekeeper, Billie Jean, is no help. Then Katie discovers Plaincrag is gone, so she runs around in the rain looking for him, but all that accomplishes is getting her all wet and sick.
But don’t worry, Plaincrag will be back… in three years! What happens then? Will he and Katie get back together? How will Katie’s new husband react? Will Katie survive the book? Find out next time in Badweather Hills 2: Meet Katie Jr.!
July 5 – Products
339 words
Are you looking for a fun obnoxious noisy toy to be your new friend? We’ve got you covered! Our product is a colorful… animal companion? Is it an animal? Probably. A unique species of animal. One with brightly-colored fur, big ears, a beak, and a round, boxy body.
It can talk! It even has its own language. When speaking English, it always refers to itself in third person. And using its name, not third-person pronouns. Maybe it doesn’t use pronouns. Does its language even have pronouns?
Not only can it talk, you can talk to it! Use special voice commands to get it to do special things. What all can it do? It can put on a light show with its light-up ears! It can tell your fortune, with answers more vague and confusing than a regular magic 8 ball! It can help you meditate, and give you positive affirmations to repeat like “I am an unstoppable force of nature” and “There are no limits to what I will do” (embrace your inner villain)! And it can sing really annoying and sometimes weird songs, such as “President of the Moon”!
It will always call you its bestie, no matter how you treat it! You can say, “You’re stupid, I hate you,” and it will reply with things like “Aww, I love you!” That way, you can play fun games like abusive relationship with zero consequences!
Be warned, though: if you treat it like this, your sisters may start to feel bad for it and try to take it away from you, even though they had been complaining about how annoying it is.
Yes, that’s another thing it can do: annoy the people around you! Most little siblings already know plenty of ways to be annoying, but couldn’t everyone use another one?
For extra fun, get two of these toys! Then you can hook them up to have conversations with each other, where they tell each other the same jokes over and over and then laugh! Doesn’t that sound fun?

Hi, Sydney! I’m Kit. I don’t really know you, but you seem cool (also, your banner is lovely — I love Folklore <33)
Starting a short story or novel is exciting! It may be daunting, starting a new thing, but it’s absolutely worth it. I believe in you! I bet whatever ideas you have are really cool. What you write doesn’t have to be polished or perfect; that’s what editing is for. Nor does it have to be super long; even if you just write a paragraph or two, that’s a start! And I’m sure whatever you write will be amazing.
Completing at least half the dailies is totally achievable. You’re already two for two — nice work! You have 29 days to do another 13 or 14. Don’t stress, and take days off whenever you need; there’s no need to overwork yourself or force yourself to complete dailies you don’t like. You’ve got plenty of time.
As for being social and getting to know other SWCers, just from a quick glance around Gothic I can tell you’re already being really friendly and social, introducing yourself and striking up conversations with your cabinmates. That’s great! I’d also be happy to get to know you better :D And you have a whole month left to get to know people. Keep it up; you’re doing great so far. Gothic is lucky to have you <3
Best of luck this session! Your goals are great, and you can absolutely achieve them <3 You got this!
July 1 – 1k Intro
1057 words
Kit: So, are we starting now, or…
Interviewer: I’m speaking with Script co-leader Kit. Kit, go ahead and introduce yourself.
Kit: So, I’m Kit, she/her, queer autistic nerd who likes reading, drawing, writing — surprising, I know — and petting cats. I’m in the central timezone, which is… CDT right now? I hate daylight savings time. So… yeah.
Interviewer: You’ve been doing Scratch Writing Camp for a while, right?
Kit: Yeah, this is my… twelfth session? I’ve been here since November 2021. It’s weird to me that I’m an SWC old; I still remember being a new camper. But all the hosts from my first session retired, and when I reference things like the Mangosens only a handful of people know what I’m talking about… November 2021 is still one of my favorite sessions. I was in Adventure, and it was amazing. Goats for the win.
Interviewer: Outside of SWC, what else do you do on Scratch?
Kit: My Scratch social life basically revolves around SWC at this point, but I do make projects sometimes. I mean, I joined Scratch to code — I’d been doing stuff on code.org, and my mom suggested I try Scratch. I can’t code anything super fancy, nothing that involves complex math, but I’ve made some simple games and animations. I made a whole series of She-Ra dress up games — one of them actually got featured a couple years ago, which was pretty wild.
Interviewer: Tell me more about She-Ra.
Kit: Right, so, that show was my intense interest for like… three years? She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. It’s a remake of the ’80s show, a He-Man spinoff, and it may look dumb but it’s actually really good. Anyway, I’m still not over it. I made a ton of stuff, projects, fanart, fanfics… I’m also an active editor and content moderator on She-Ra Fandom Wiki. But if you let me go on about that, I’ll be here forever.
Interviewer: Besides She-Ra, what other fandoms are you in?
Kit: Too many to list, but my main ones at the moment are The Owl House, Welcome To Night Vale, Percy Jackson — or, the Riordanverse, but I haven’t read The Kane Chronicles or Magnus Chase — and Arcane. I’d love to talk about any of them whenever. Also, if you want to read fanfics where Jinx and Isha get to live happily ever after together, I have some recommendations; I searched for some as soon as I finished the show.
Interviewer: Speaking of recommendations, what are your favorite books you’d like more people to check out?
Kit: I have too many favorites to list, but just out of ones I’ve read this year… Gearbreakers by Zoe Hana Mikuta needs a bigger fandom, it’s YA dystopia with central sapphic romance and it’s great. Actually, all the books I’m about to name are YA and queer… Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao isn’t exactly underrated, but it’s also very good, sci-fi fantasy series inspired by figures from Chinese history. We Are Okay by Nina LaCour was really beautiful, it would probably count as literary fiction if it weren’t YA. Devils Like Us by L. T. Thompson came out less than a month ago, it’s historical fantasy where one of the POV characters is trans and the other two are sapphic, there’s an evil secret society and a crew of queer pirates and it’s great, go read it. And finally, yesterday I finished If Tomorrow Doesn’t Come by Jen St. Jude, a queer pre-apocalyptic novel, which was very good but very sad.
Interviewer: Next I have some questions people sent in. First I have one from Bea in Dystopian: what is your second favorite reptile?
Kit: Hmm. First I need to pick a first favorite reptile. I’d say my favorite reptile is turtles — or, if you want a specific species, painted turtles, they’re so pretty. But turtles in general are very cool. Second favorite is probably snakes. I’d say my favorite snake species is garter snakes; there are a lot of them in my yard, and I like them. They’re harmless to us and they eat the mice, plus they’re just cool. You didn’t ask for a third favorite, but I also like Komodo dragons.
Interviewer: Next I have several from Rose in Apocalyptic. First, what music artists do you like?
Kit: Ooh. My favorite band is The Linda Lindas. I got to see them play last year, which was awesome. Some other favorites are The Go-Go’s, Girl in Red, The Weakerthans, and Team Dresch. And for some obscure ones, Allegra Hernandez and Sarah Tonin — go listen to “Use My Fkn Pronouns” or “Dumpster Fire on Douglas” by Allegra Hernandez and “Selfish” by Sarah Tonin” right now.
Interviewer: What are your feelings on school?
Kit: I’m actually homeschooled. Specifically, “unschooled” — my education is very informal, and I can basically just do whatever I want. Actual school does not sound good to me. I have started taking online classes, though — yesterday I had my first of several AP history classes.
Interviewer: Favorite foods?
Kit: Pancakes, french toast, french fries, pizza, hashbrowns. Very healthy, I know. Oh, and tomato soup.
Interviewer: Favorite genres to read and write?
Kit: I used to read nothing but fantasy and spy or mystery, but now I don’t really have a favorite genre. I’ll read any genre if it’s either queer or a graphic novel — and, you know, if the book looks interesting. My favorite genre to write is still fantasy, but it’s, uh, been awhile since I wrote anything besides random thoughts or fanfiction. (Kit laughs)
Interviewer: What tropes do you like?
Kit: I really like “affably evil,” I think it’s fun when villains are genuinely chill and friendly while still being evil. On a related note, I like it when two villains really love each other — I like how it can humanize them without redeeming them. Also, I like “lampshade hanging,” as TV Tropes calls it — when characters point out how something in their story is cliche or doesn’t make sense.
Interviewer: And finally, a question from Emily in Gothic: Fingers or toes?
Kit: Fingers. I mean, I wouldn’t be able to type without them. They’re very important. Toes are good too, though, they help with balance.
Interviewer: And that’s all the time we have. Thanks for talking.
Kit: Thank you for having me.

SWC Megathread ‧₊˚❀༉‧ July 2025
1070 words
1k Intro!!
Hey, everyone, I’m Silvi, a NEARLY TEENAGE tea enthusiast and bookworm residing in the incredible BST timezone!! This is my 7th session (I think), my first session being July 2023, please correct me if I’m wrong!! SWC has been such an amazing experience for me so far, and helped me build so much in my writing skills, make great friends and strengthened my leadership skills! This is my 2nd session as a co-leader, which I cannot wait to get started on! My cabin is Tragicomedy, and our storyline is based on THE LION KINGGGG!! WHAT AN ICON OF A FILM OMG <33
I have a number of hobbies, including reading, music, crochet and writing (of course!!). I’ve recently been getting into more YA novels, lots of fantasy romance, including the Powerless series, the Inheritance Games and Shatter Me (GO READ THEM RIGHT NOWWWWWWW). I also love any fictional books with mythology (especially Greek), some examples being ‘The Immortal Games’ and basically all Rick Riordan! As well as this, I’ve recently been getting into some of Alice Oseman’s novels, my favourite being ‘Loveless.’
I love reading realistic fiction, and I don’t know what you’re talking about if you don’t like it it’s honestly so interesting and amazing and I also love fantasy cos who doesn’t and I love hi-fi as history is so much fun as a subject OMGGGGGGGGG
Murder mysteries are so awesome as well!! I mean you’ve got murder most unladylike which is more if a younger series but i think will go on to become a classic, and then you’ve got good girl's guide to murder which even had the popular girls hooked at my primary school (and the tv series is also great they’re going to release the next series soon yes yes yes yes yes) and then you have one of us is lying and all of her other stand alones and there are some less famous books called mondays are murder and this book kills and they are also so good and should 100% be films <3
Also Harry Potter. The books have so much imagination and the FILMS YES YES YES I APPROVE
Anyways… enough ranting about books!
As I mentioned earlier, I’m also really into music. I recently achieved my Grade 5 in flute with distinction, and I’m involved in multiple bands/ensembles/orchestras/choirs. I used to take singing lessons, but I recently quitted them as I wanted to focus on flute more, and I was struggling quite a bit with the singing. I would love to take up another instrument, like the saxophone or the cello.
And, of course, I also love listening to music! I absolutely LOVE LAUFEY SHE’S SUCH AN ICON WITH SUCH AN AWESOME STYLE LIKE HOW DID SHE MAKE ME LOVE JAZZ THAT MUCH HOW AND HER NEW SONG TOUGH LUCK YES IT’S AMAZING OH MY GOODNESS
I’ve started to get more into crochet, and although I do absolutely suck at it, I think I can get better with youtube tutorials. I’ve made scrunchies, one tiny whale that’s missing an eye, a few flowers/vines, a granny square cushion cover WIP and I’m currently working on a bucket hat! I would love to improve on my crochet, as it’s such a useful skill if you want to make a quick present or clothing or maybe just something that’s useful/cute.
Clearly, I love writing. SWC really introduced me to how much I love it and has helped me improve my writing so much. I would like to try writing some romance as I have lately started to get more into romance novels. I love writing about terrible things that are happening in the world right now e.g certain wars, illnesses etc as it’s nice to draw attention to these things. My ultimate dream is to write a book, and author visits to my school only increase that hope as it is great to hear about the process of writing a book, along with all of its difficulties.
I just wanted to mention THE NEW WICKED FILM is coming out soon??! I’ve sort of watches the first one and I’ll be honest I’m getting a bit sick of all the songs but it was still a great film and I would love to see the next one! I love films with Tom Cruise (The Last Samurai, War of the Worlds, The Edge of Tomorrow etc) but I would love to watch more relaxed films, as honestly I hate horror cause why would i want to watch something that makes me scared/grossed out??! Especially with all the jump scares
(
MOVING SWIFTLY ON.
I would love to get more into art as occasionally I do really good and I create something I’m actually proud of but most of the time it’s pretty much stick figures haha
Photography is something else I would like to get more into, as I do have a camera and I love using it, but I’m not amazing with it and some of the photography GCSE and A Level work I’ve seen at my school is so cool.
145 words left!! Sorry for the very chaotic amount of chaos that I have been unleashing on my keyboard: there’s currently a heatwave where I am and it’s actually crazy I mean, 37 degrees in England in June??! So now I’m in my lovely cool room with SWC, I'm feeling quite hyped as I’ve just been sitting in a stifling classroom pretty much all day!
As I don’t know how to fit all of these into a cohesive paragraph(s) I will just give you some random facts about myself in a list!
- my favourite colour’s blue!!
- I would love to go to Disneyland
- I’m terrified of heights but would love to try paragliding ir something t otry overcome that fear
- I used to do a lot of swimming and I still love it
- I love going to the beach!
- My favourite foods are: tacos, baltis, jungle curry, anything thai (pad thai is incredible), treacle tart and there is a lot more

SWC Megathread ‧₊˚❀༉‧ July 2025
2k word into | 07.01.2025
⊱ ────── {.⋅ ✯ ⋅.} ────── ⊰
Hi everyone! I’m Celeste, though many of my friends call me Lestie, so you are welcome to call me that too. I’m a thirteen-year-old Vietnamese-American girl with a passion for reading, writing, piano, cello, dancing, and theater. I’m in the PST timezone, and this is my very first session of SWC, and I’m in the Apocalyptic cabin. I can’t wait to see what SWC has in store this month!!
First of all, I love to read. I enjoy reading fantasy, dystopian, science fiction, realistic fiction, and mystery! Some of my current favorite books and book series are Powerless, The Inheritance Games, The Hunger Games, The Prison Healer, Unwind, Scythe, The Outsiders, and Skyward. I often look towards these books for inspiration for a lot of my short stories, which makes me like them even more!
Secondly, I love to write (duh). I only recently found my passion for writing, which was about a year ago, thanks to my homeroom teacher last year. Since then, I’ve written so so so many poems, while not as many short stories. However, I’ve lately written more short stories, and I haven’t written a poem since April. When I TRY to write a poem, I just can’t. I think I’ve maybe burnt out :sobs:. Either way, I can indeed write poetry. When I write short stories, they tend to be an average of 4K words, which is honestly more than I’d like. I usually write fantasy, science fiction, and dystopian, but am working to be able to write more genres!! I am currently writing a novel, one that hopefully will stick (I’m on the second chapter right now and I’m hopefully going to make it to the 100th!!!!!). You see, I have a problem with sticking to story ideas. I’m always maybe on the first chapter, then my brain decides that there’s a WAY better concept (spoiler: it’s not) and diverts to that. I have SO MANY OF THOSE- but recently I found a solution (yay)! I turn those other concepts into short stories (sparkles). I actually find that really helpful, because I can focus on my novel, AND I can put those concepts into short stories. Maybe THAT’S why my short stories are so long…
I also play two instruments!! (Guys, I met someone who played four…) I play the piano and cello. I have been playing the piano for 9 years, since the age of 4. For the longest time, I’ve been able to listen to a piece of music and then play it on the piano by ear, which is pretty satisfying. I also play the cello, though for not as long. I’ve been playing the cello for about 6 years now, with two different teachers. I actually came very close to quitting cello, but I’m glad I didn’t. I recently performed at (a recital in) Carnegie Hall, which is probably the biggest thing I’ve done with my music. I also was in a string ensemble for one year, although I got waitlisted this time. I am a huge advocate for Team Viola, because they’re like the forgotten middle child… whose name is pronounced wrong or is forgotten altogether (go violas!). Sadly. I used to do more competitions than I do now. I actually turned down an in-person competition that would’ve happened this month, during SWC, because I just finished the audition and competition seasons, and I’m tired.
I have been dancing for 10 years, since the age of 3. I mainly dance ballet and tap, as I have done those the longest. I only recently got on pointe, which was around a year ago. I also dance (or danced) hip-hop, lyrical, jazz, and contemporary. Actually, today I’m going to be trying out a modern contemporary class, which should be very fun! I don’t dance competitively, but I have met Misty Copeland before (still in shock, four years later).
Finally, I do theater. I’ve been doing it for around eight years now, and I have sixteen shows under my belt, seventeen by the time July is over. I’ve tried being the main character before, and let’s just say that I didn’t enjoy it that much. So lately I’ve usually tried supporting roles and ensembles, because it’s more enjoyable for me and easier to keep up with, since I don’t have much time. Also, we do theater games (sparkles) in my cast, and we’re the ONLY CAST at the place that we do this in that does this. So many of my favorite memories come from this cast, though so many people don’t like our cast for some reason (actually, that’s a valid reason. Last show, someone broke the set by accident). Some of my favorite shows I’ve done include Newsies (Katherine), Lion King (Rafiki), and Annie (Molly). Next show I’m doing is Mary Poppins and I’m so excited for that!!
In addition to these things, I do Kumon. Yay. That was sarcasm. I’m ALMOST DONE so I’m just hanging in there. My parents are making me do every level so I’m stuck doing calculus in middle school… but it’s going to be fine. I hope.
I would also say I have mild OCD, because if something is messy, like for example someone didn’t put a book properly into a bookshelf, it just annoys me SO MUCH I HAVE TO FIX IT on the spot right there. (And then of course my mom goes “WELL YOU DON’T WORK HERE” whenever I do that at a store) It just bugs me. A lot.
I have two major fears: a fear of spiders, and a fear of flying balls and their shadows. The first one is simple, and I would like to take a moment to acknowledge the fact that I stared at a spider crawling up the wall for ten minutes and didn’t freak out. I’m so proud of myself (why that’s a sad accomplishment). My second fear is of flying balls and their shadows. This stemmed from playing basketball… too much. Last year I got hit on the head with a ball, and then five seconds later I got hit on the head with my OWN ball. After that, I got hit on the nose (I wear glasses). I also got hit on the head way too many times to count. Therefore, I have a fear of flying balls and their shadows, meaning my least favorite sports are basketball and volleyball.
I listen to music a lot. By “a lot,” I mean “every sleeping and waking moment I have music playing whether it’s from Spotify or my piano.” Yes, I listen to music from my Alexa at night. Music is also often the inspiration for my writing, which is why I will sometimes play one song on repeat the entire time I’m writing a story. I’m not joking, I get tired of the song afterwards though. I listen to a lot of classical music, contemporary classical music, video game soundtracks, and Gracie Abrams. Some of my favorite artists currently are Gracie Abrams, BLACKPINK, journiie, and Ludovico Einaudi. Do understand that Gracie Abrams is most likely my all-time favorite artist (like The Secret of Us is amazing and so is Good Riddance). I’m also thinking about writing my own music this summer, which definitely would be a good challenge for me, since this is my last summer of freedom. I have done covers before, although have not posted them publicly because my parents won’t let me do that (yet).
I watch YouTube. Sometimes. I mainly watch videos from TwoSet Violin and Jianhao Tan (I mean, Titan Academy is fire). I won’t go too much in depth or we’d be here forever… but I also watch way too many Stardew Valley videos from people who play that game 24/7 and are pros (I am not a pro). And Animal Crossing New Horizons videos too (again, pros). Otherwise, I’d rather read a good book than stare at Titan Academy drama (even if it is cool).
I play video games, only I usually play when we go on vacation somewhere other than our home. It’s the only time I actually have time to play. I’ve played Super Mario Odyssey, Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing New Horizons, Princess Peach Showtime, some Zelda game I forgot which one it was, and various other games. I pride myself in being good at Mario Kart and being horrifyingly terrible at everything else.
My username was crafted to be my artist name, since I was actually planning to use this account for my original songs. This sort of ties back to what I was talking about earlier, about possibly writing my own songs. We’ll see if that happens (and hopefully it will!).
My favorite color has to be either indigo or dark purple. Usually my favorite color changes a lot, but these colors have stuck for almost a year now, so I’m certain these are my actual favorite colors (yay). I, for some unfathomable reason even to me, cannot stand the colors orange or yellow. I am deeply sorry, because they really are good colors.
One country I’d like to visit is Vietnam. My mom’s side of the family is from Vietnam, and I’ve always wanted to go there for the longest time. We probably could, except for one reason… and that is my immensely life-threatening food allergies. However, since I have overcome that (more on that later), we probably could go now, except my mom doesn’t want to (bad memories, maybe?).
So, onto the topic of my life-threatening allergies (and no, I’m not exaggerating). My anaphylactic allergies are peanuts, walnuts, pistachios, and cashews. The amount of times that I’ve had to go to the ER because I consumed the tiniest bit of peanut dust is insane- it’s sad, sort of (and peanuts was the one I was least allergic to). The good news is, I can eat these nuts now because of a food allergy program that definitely helped. The bad news is that I have to eat a million of these nuts just to stay not allergic, which is hard because I’ve grown up knowing these nuts could do bad things to me. It’s fine, I’m getting over it.
My SECOND FAVORITE animal (only losing to dogs) is… well quite honestly I have no idea. I haven’t thought about that. Interesting.
My THIRD FAVORITE SONG (only losing to Risk and Cool by Gracie Abrams) is Blowing Smoke or Tough Love by Gracie Abrams (I WARNED YOU that I was a huge Gracie fan). I’ve been listening to that album way more than I should be but that’s okay!!
I LIKE SCHOOL- do not be surprised, for I am a nerd. Yes. Do not question my interests in science, math, and biology. And English.
My FAVORITE FOODS are all Vietnamese foods I can’t write here because I can’t write the accents (sobbing at my keyboard I’m mad), but just know that I also like ramen!
I do like a good trope. Some of my favorites include personification and love triangles (I mean, it’s just so funny sometimes to write that). I’m not too good with tropes, but they’re fun to write!
On the topic of fandoms… there’s a lot (cue the evil laughter). Allow me to take a deep breath to begin… Wings of Fire, The Inheritance Games, Keeper of the Lost Cities, The Hunger Games, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and the Grishaverse. Though I haven’t read too much Grishaverse, it’s still amazing all the same.
Anyways, thanks for reading all of that (even if you didn’t) because it was much appreciated for you to waste your time reading it, and for me to waste my time writing it (no just kidding, it was fun writing this <3). I hope you enjoyed reading about my various interests that will always interest me, and did I mention I like making up nonsense quotes? No? Well, as I always say, “always leave the most random pieces of information for when no one needs to hear it.”

SWC Megathread ‧₊˚❀༉‧ July 2025
okay wait. this is supposed to be a 1000-word intro? its very bold of you to assume i can talk about myself for that long without getting distracted by something shiny and irrelevant. after 4 writer's block crises, i've realized i usually start panicking around word 250 and then forget who i am as a person. but here we go. i can do this. (hopefully)
so um, hi, i’m julia. i live in the definitely objectively superior time zone (est, obviously), except i’ll be in india for most of july, so ist is temporarily kidnapping me and my sleep schedule. i don’t know what day it is most of the time. that’s me every summer. :sob:
this is my first swc session, and i'm only here because of the one and only mildred. Yes, THE mildred. irl friend. writing grandmaster. she showed me her work and some of the swc chaos and then casually dragged me into it. honestly? respect. i fear her influence but also deeply appreciate it. mildred supremacy. (/j… mostly)
anyway. let me attempt to summarize myself before i forget what i was talking about again. (the struggle is real.)
let’s speedrun my personality
color? probably lilac or any shade labeled something unnecessarily dramatic like “moonflower dusk.” (in other words, anything that sounds or looks aesthetic and can be used in a random collage.)
snack? anything spicy or savory. bonus points if it makes me question my life choices, especially why i particularly chose that snack.
anime? i consume it like oxygen. detective conan, saiki k, death note, mha, jjk, aot… plus a rotating cast of other shows i forget until i see one screenshot and internally combust because i haven't seen them in so long. (i try to read the mangas first because obviously the manga is superior
) i basically spin a fandom wheel and every result is “mild emotional damage and a new favorite character.”
games? i played omori and have not emotionally recovered. i also play valorant, fortnite, call of duty, and sometimes i even pretend i’m decent at them. (i am not. but the chaos is fun.
)
books? i love the inheritance games series, anything by nicola yoon, and i’m slowly getting wrecked by light novels - especially the ones by mei hachimoku. thanks, mildred. again.
hobbies? i write (obviously). sometimes it’s poetry, sometimes it’s mystery, sometimes it’s chaotic nonsense that turns into a fully finished story at 2am while i’m eating cereal, but i scrap it because i forget to name to main character's mom who dies a tragic death and shows up twice in the entire story. you know, just normal stuff. I also sing, and play violin, piano, and drums. i also love artsy stuff like painting, moodboarding, and making things ✧aesthetic✧ for no reason. if i say “i have a vision,” i probably just found a nice color palette and a single angsty song. the illusion of artistry is key.
i also hike, bike (hey that rhymes
), play soccer, volleyball, and pickleball (i promise i’m not secretly seventy :sob: ). i’m objectively bad at most of them, and there is a very real chance i might accidentally take someone’s eye out, but hey - at least i'm trying.
music? anyone and everyone. i listen to clairo, beabadoobee, mitski, laufey, wave to earth, alex g, yung kai, and a lot of kpop (too many groups to name, it’s a lifestyle at this point). i also love cpop, jpop, indie, rap, and lofi. basically if it makes me feel something or sounds cool at 1 am, i’m in.
also yes: i watched kpop demon hunters while babysitting and expected background noise level chaos. what I actually got? fire plot, banger songs, and characters i lwk got invested in. (this is me promoting the movie - GO WATCH IT NOW OR I'LL HIDE A GLITTER BOMB IN YOUR LAUNDRY /j ofc)
other things i’m weirdly obsessed with: psychology. i love learning how the brain works - so much that i’ve got like a thirty page google doc full of notes. i don’t know what i’m doing with that knowledge yet but it’s giving me a sense of purpose and 3am theories so i’m not complaining.
as for me as a person? i don’t usually share my age, but i’m somewhere between “too young to be this tired” and “too old to keep defending my anime addiction.” i’m sarcastic by default, silly by choice, and fueled by caffeine and vague panic. if you get anything out of my intro, this is my tldr.
bonus fun facts:
– i once painted an entire canvas with just five colors and two emotions (long story short: it did not look pretty, especially since i was violently sobbing at the time.. whoops)
– sometimes i write in all lowercase for aesthetic reasons. other times it's just because the shift key betrayed me
– i'm not saying caffeine is a personality trait but it's definitely a supporting character in my life
common questions i ask myself:
– do i really need another notebook? yes. obviously. is that even a question? i really don't know myself
– why do i start a million projects at once? no comment.
– why are half my spotify playlists are named things like “ghost jazz for emotionally damaged royals”? uhhh
if i ever start ranting about a fictional character’s tragic backstory, just know: that’s how i express affection. If i say “he deserves rights,” please just nod and don't call me crazy. (its happened before - it can happen again)
also i swear i’m friendlier than i sound. if you’re into mildly unhinged humor, unsolicited music recs, dramatic character banter, or receiving a random moodboard out of nowhere, we’ll probably get along great. (/g)
if you’ve made it this far: wow. congratulations. you now know way too much about me.
and, uh, yeah, this is my 1000-word intro (but like… probably not exactly 1000, math is fake).
so, yeah, i'm super psyched to be here and i can't wait meet everyone and make fun memories!
(and obviously, sci fi is going to win)

1k intro
1083 words
1083 words
it’s that time again. time for the start of another swc session and another 1k intro. hopefully. this is really just a test of my ability to talk about myself endlessly, which you’d think would be quite easy, but it actually has posed a very large challenge the last few times i’ve attempted this. perhaps this time i will try to include some more interesting things in my intro, and not the usual things i talk about every time i introduce myself.
also, no capitalisation. i know, i’m sorry, but i cannot bring myself to do it for a 1k intro.
i mean, i’m also doing this for an unofficial word war right now with skylar. which is not a great idea seeing as it takes me absolutely ages to write anything that isn’t stream of consciousness. i have an okay wpm, but it’s the time it takes for me to think about what i actually want to write about that’s my biggest barrier. but i’m sure it will be fine.
so. what to talk about now? i’m just writing this to waste time and use up more words. these sentences have been purely useless but i just need to write them to take a few words off the 1k goal. just over 200 words so far!
what to talk about, hm… well right now i’m listening to these piano covers of radiohead! i’ll spare you my radiohead talk because there will be no end to it and this will quickly become a 10k intro if i start talking about radiohead uncontrollably. but anyways, these covers are by alex franklin piano and they’re amazing! i think the pianist really captures the spirit of radiohead but also adds their own twist to the cover and i love the result of it.
oh, i’m also participating in my first session of artfight this month! actual artfight this time, not the scratch version. i’ll be honest i literally am so unprepared. i have a single character up on my profile. but i’ll definitely have the time to do more art now there’s only a few weeks of school left. we don’t do too much now anyway, since there are no upcoming exams, so it’s just learning content, which is nice and relaxed. although it’s very boring sitting through two physics lessons in a day, i will admit that. and i really like physics. i can’t wait to actually get onto the interesting topics this year.
also, recently i’ve been getting into watching films, which is actually quite unusual for me, seeing as in the past five years, not counting the past week, i’d only watched about two films. but in the past week, i’ve watched call me by your name, beautiful boy, little women, and bones and all. and if someone realises all those films have timothee chalamet in them, no you don’t. if i’m being honest i didn’t exactly mean for that to happen but i realised all the films with him in are the arty and sad sort, which is what i love to watch. so i’m not complaining. i really love all those films, especially call me by your name and bones and all. i know people have divided opinions on cmbyn and i’m very willing to debate that out, i also have Opinions. but i think in the end it’s that type of film that you feel like you shouldn’t like but it just touches something inside of you anyway. and bones and all is just so sad. even if the plot is a bit weak. and the cinematography — i think this goes for both films — is spectacular. out of this world. amazing. i have no words. maybe it’s just luca guadagnino films that i love.
so i took a break to save some artfight refs and guess what the website is already down. which is to be expected, but i only managed to save three references. it’ll probably keep me going though, since i am absolutely horrible at drawing humans. or animals for that matter.
well i’m already stuck. and it’s only been just under 700 words. i mean, i managed to successfully talk about nothing for much longer than i anticipated, so it’s going better than usual.
oh! i got a blahaj! yesss i asked my mother if i could get a blahaj if i got distinction on grade 8 clarinet, and she said yes. honestly i don’t think any of us genuinely thought i could get a distinction but somehow i got a really nice examiner who gave me a distinction. so i got a blahaj!!
i also got these glow in the dark stars to stick on my bedroom ceiling. i’m surprised my parents let me because they’re always saying things like that are harmful when they literally aren’t…???? anyways, i stuck some of them up in the constellation of leo. i don’t know what other constellations to do though, suggestions? my bedroom is actually tiny though so i don’t have much space to work on and my bed is in the corner, which means i can’t really see much of the limited ceiling space when i lie in bed. i’m still going to cover my ceiling though, even if that means stocking up on glow in the dark stars next time i go into town.
almost there, just under 900 words right now. well i just spotted my art pack under my bed, so i suppose i’ll talk about it. it’s for gcse art — at the start of the year they gave us a bag full of art things. like oil pastels and charcoals and pencils and watercolours. gradually i’ve just been stuffing more things into my art pack and never taking them out, so there a random skein of brown sock yarn (don’t ask why i was using sock yarn, i don’t even know myself) and a bright pink embroidery hoop that i borrowed from the school art department and forgot to return. mostly because i started the project in february and still haven’t finished it. yeah. i’m so behind with my art portfolio work, but i’m probably just going to have to catch up this month and the next, in the summer break. because if i don’t, i’m never going to catch up, knowing myself, and then i won’t have another opportunity to.
okay i got 1k words!! and this time it wasn’t actually too painful. maybe i’m getting better at talking endlessly about myself.
