Scratch betrayed us... Did they?

I've recently got multiple warnings that my projects about Sprunki were removed because they were too violent. But they actually weren't really that violent. Nothing that could be featured in the real Sprunki. And the Scratch Team rejected the idea of banning an entire franchise. This is an official quote from the official list of rejected suggestions, by Za-Chary, “Generally, the Scratch Team does not censor projects based on a certain franchise unless a large number of inappropriate projects were made with the franchise. An example is Five Nights at Freddy's; see this announcement for more information. In general, it is usually possible to make appropriate projects based on a certain franchise. Of course, you should always report inappropriate projects of any kind.” Though, this post was made around 6 years ago, so it may be outdated. What do you think?

Sprunki was banned altogether becuase it was to easy to lead people to innappropriate projects.

Honestly, I can't blame you for thinking that.

It feels like they changed the “ban certain franchises” policy, but didn't make an official formal statement over it. In the case of Sprunki fans, they might feel short-changed(“Why does FNAF get a pass, but not Sprunki?”)

Sprunki has more gore than FNAF but Sprunki has bad Youtube Kids content? But Fnaf has that too, so I just don't know at this point ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You gotta keep in mind that 8 year olds use this site, they have to be very picky on what they allow.

I think Sprunki and Fnaf are kind of cringe anyways… Dredge is not though.

The key word is “generally”.

Sprunki is an exception to this “rejection” because there was way too much inappropriate content under its name, in the same way that other franchises were banned after this “rejection” was added to the list.

That rejection was probably just added to the list so people would stop arguing on the forums about random franchises, like Star Wars (?!).

But again, it says “unless a large number of inappropriate projects were made with the franchise”, and so the Scratch Team decided to make a reasonable exception for Sprunki. I wouldn't consider that a betrayal.

Also, FNAF is still not banned. I know it's not that important but I had to say it because people keep getting it wrong!

Okay! Just wanted too ask… Then why is DOOM not banned? It is literally a game for adults.

If you have a question about a Scratch Team action, please use the Contact Us button at the bottom of every page to ask the Scratch Team directly.

Regarding the quote about blocking an entire franchise only if our moderators had to deal with a lot of inappropriate content - that line was crossed with regards to Sprunki.
