personally, the original ending was pretty good! It wrapped up everyone's stories pretty well and made them all united.

The latest episode I know of is the 99th episode special, is that considered the end of the original series?

yep! It was a huge musical episode showcasing the last 98 episodes

Gonna be honest, I've never seen any of the reboot. Just the original.
