I mean, it's been in the job description for one of their engineers for a while, so I'd assume it's going to be lol

From the Scratch Team email to educators today.
I wonder what type of AI features though. Like image generation? Maybe chatbot. Actually likely use is probably for generating code or costumes for sprites now that I think of it. Its not very clear other than “AI tool that offers support for ideation, coding, debugging, reflection, and more.” (reflection??)

Image generation is rejected so that's definitely not happening at least.
And there was much rejoicing.

I don't think it is entirely rejected, in an interview they stated how they are open to using ai image generation in their website. (correct me if I am wrong, that interview was done one year ago)

Yet that article is used to reject AI image generation for Scratch…
(you can't see the blog now, but IA had saved it)

No. Think about ChatGPT DAN. People jailbroke ChatGPT, a very appropriate AI into making mature content. Scratch Team, do you want the whole “no art filter on Scratch” situation to get worse when your AI makes the bad art? Think about it.

You know it's bad when it's impossible to tell if this is satire or genuine.

They likely wouldn't use a large AI companies AI such as ChatGPT (they are paid for and scratch is a non-profit org). Even if they did decide to make their own AI it would be made for a very specific purpose and not multi-use like ChatGPT. Not only that but as I said before, they are non-profit. It costs a lot to hire developers to create a good, safe, and useful AI.

extra: Not to mention the price of keeping extra servers running just for the AI as it requires a LOT of computing power.

Alright, I added a little note below my post notifying that it’s just a satire sarcastic joke

Can they make their AI tell them how to fix the website search feature that's been broken for half a year?

They probably don't need to… I imagine that a few prompts to GitHub Copilot would fix that (if it were that simple), well within the “free” tier's limits (plus, the code is already there).

website development $200
editor development $110
moderation $3.25
github copilot enterprise licenses $30,600
scratch labs $0.09

someone who is good at the economy please help me budget this. my lifelong kindergarten foundation is dying
