Scratch 2.0 online?

Hi guys! This is my first forum about a question I have on scratch 2.0. Im curious if any of you guys not only know how to get the offline editor, but if it is possible for it to be unblocked on school computers? Thanks if you viewed this, and thank you if you answered. Or if you guys at least tried to answer!
Thanks!

Scratch 2.0 online?

If your school has Scratch 2.0 blocked, then you will probably not be able to use it on their computers, sadly.

The online Scratch 2.0 editor was made unavailable with the release of Scratch 3.0 in 2019. There are mirrors of it online, but these require Adobe Flash which, in 2025, will almost certainly be unavailable on a school computer.

to find out more about scratch 2.0, you could go here!
But the Scratch Wiki is broken so you may have to wait a while for it to work properly

Scratch 2.0 online?

If you're talking about a chromebook, theres some options

Using the Linux development environment, installing wine and opening the installer with it, should work but i havent tried

Chrome os versions below 89 support Adobe Flash player

If this is a mac then idk bro lol

A school-managed Chromebook typically would not make the Linux environment accessible to students, and certainly will not be running a four-year-old version of ChromeOS.

Scratch 2.0 online?

it's a rejected suggestion

2.4 Revert back to older versions of the Scratch editor
The Scratch editor has to update sometimes to accommodate certain changes. In particular, an online editor that ran off of Adobe Flash (rather than Squeak) was added in the Scratch 2.0 editor, and the Scratch 3.0 editor was created for tablet support. Changing the editor back to an older version would not only undo years of hard work by the Scratch Team, but they also might not work online anymore due to changing technologies.

The Scratch Team is still working on bug fixes, new features, and other improvements on the Scratch 3.0 editor. The new interface was created in such a way that it is easy for the Scratch Team to keep working on improvements. The Scratch Team will continue to evaluate constructive feedback on how they could improve upon the current Scratch editor.

Scratch 2.0 online?

I created a project on Glitch.com that brings the Scratch 2.0 web editor back to life using HTML5 and Ruffle. After some digging, I found the exact .swf file used in the original editor and got it running smoothly with Ruffle. Since the default Ruffle loading screen didn’t quite fit the Scratch aesthetic, I designed a custom one using HTML and CSS.

Additionally, I made the project installable as a progressive web app (PWA), so you can add it to your home screen and launch it like a native app. Currently, about 90% of the editor is supported, and with Ruffle’s ongoing development, full support could be possible by 2026.

Check it out here: https://scratchflash.glitch.me/
