I don't know why this hasn't been an option from the beginning- it used to be possible to set your location to that using some client-side JavaScript (that no longer works because they now verify locations server-side), and it's better than Antarctica.

I could swear my fake location has been mistaken for a real one at some point

I don't get why it was removed, it would make more sense for them to make it an actual option.
It was possibly even an easier alternative to fixing the bug

even if they wanted everyone to have a country for the statistics I assume a large portion of users have a fake country anyways, so adding location not given could actually increase its accuracy

you can't just set it

The list isn't changed since it uses a standard list, and that's not actually what the bug was. If that person is referring to old posts, there was once a bug that allowed you to get location not given, but it was caused by an inspect element trick, not a location being removed from the list.

Although there is workarounds for this (like Antartica), this is a good suggestion because then people wouldn’t spam “DO YOU ACTUALLY LIVE IN ATANRTICA????” or stuff like that, so yeah.

Yeah, but I feel like those researches might not regularly use Scratch (or use it at all), and.. how many people live on Earth, and how many of them live in Antarctica? Almost no one lives there.

That's not why, it's because Antarctica was included in the list of locations that Scratch uses

Antarctica was not added to hide locations, it was added because its included in the ISO list of countries/territories that scratch uses

support, i'm using antarctica but i'm afraid there will be people in my profile spamming “ARE YOU ACTUALLY FROM ANCTARCTICA?” “DO YOU LIVE IN ANTARCTICA??” or stuff like that. plus, i think there should be a “skip” button when asked about your country, which would then change it to “location not given”.
