I have two questions about ''necroposting''
My browser / operating system: Windows NT 10.0, Chrome 133.0.0.0, No Flash versions detected
1. Why do people say necroposting in the first place?
Why? Posting on an old topic isn't really that bad in the first place and spam reporting the post or quoting the post ( which will boost the post even further
than it was in the first place) and moderators step in to such a small offense as well most people who say ‘'necropost’' are rude about it too. And most of
the time it's new forumers as well. So being rude and saying ‘'necropost’' and mass reporting the topic ain't the way to go.
2. Who made necroposting in Scratch in the first place?
And also who made it act so dangerous to the point moderators step in ( just like i said above ) and highlight it?

I have two questions about ''necroposting''
If you make an new topic on a dead topic, or spamming something outdated, that is technically a necropost. Many necroposts are by accident. For more information, there is a Scratch Wiki topic on necroposts (https://en.scratch-wiki.info/wiki/Necropost)

Yeah but if you make a reply to a necropost you shouldn't be boosting mass reporting or be mean about it and technically being off topic as well. Idk why
this dumb rule exist in the first place look up ‘'Necroposting is dumb? Scratch’' Then you'll see and if you wonder why i say mass reporting necroposts
here's some evidence. Over here

https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/632194/ would be helpfulMy point is why should people care anyway? It's only one topic or two it's very uncommen yet you get reported and shamed for it. If someone actually gets angry about then they should stop. I think

I have two questions about ''necroposting''
- Telling people to “stop necroposting” can often come off as cruel and harsh.
Instead, just silently report the necropost, and a moderator will eventually deal with it. No need to step in.
If you see someone acting rude or upset about a necropost, you should politely relay this advice to them. - Necroposting is a phenomenon that originates from Internet forums made long before Scratch.
Sometimes, the practice is called "necrobumping“, or simply ”necroing".
Necroposting is frowned upon because it unnecessarily bumps up old discussions, and is sometimes caused by spam.
However, you can get away with necroposting, as long as your post is relevant, it contributes to the discussion, and the discussion itself is still relevant. Most necroposts don't quite meet this threshold.

I have two questions about ''necroposting''
1. The reason why i'm saying this is why people get so mad over 1 post they ‘'have’' to report it.

I have two questions about ''necroposting''
Well, if it meets the criteria, then it should be reported. That's the reason moderators close topics that have been necroposted on- it's a type of spam. 1. The reason why i'm saying this is why people get so mad over 1 post they ‘'have’' to report it.
Unknown, since the first necropost was: 2. Who spread this to Scratch?
1. likely in the 1.x forums, and
2. hard to define before there were rules around it to define it.

I have two questions about ''necroposting''
Necroposts mostly only apply to QaS.
I'm sure you know this, but just to recap, if someone posts on a topic that is >30 days old, then it is called a necropost.
It is frowned upon because necroposting pushes old and unnecessary topics up when actual questions need to be answered. You can make a new topic instead of clinging to an old one.
And necroposts are also spam, but it's also frowned upon to just say, “Don't necropost. Reporting to be closed.” It's also not mass reporting, since only one or two people report it. Most topics with necroposts close without any further posts other than the original post that necroposted.

Necroposting doesn't apply to Suggestions, as if you make a new topic to revive an old one, it's just a dupe. You can call someone out (on their profile, please) for saying someone necroposted on Suggestions.
