Scratch's Finances?

How much money does the Scratch team have? I see on their foundation website under supporters (https://www.scratchfoundation.org/supporters) they say they have the support of large corporations such as Amazon, Google, and Lego but the way these companies financially support them is vague. Do these millions of dollars come every year? How does Scratch operate and is there a financial opportunity to improve the quality of the site?

Scratch's Finances?

If you're talking about Scratch's Net Worth, Google says “As of September 20, 2022, Scratch had a post-money valuation of between $100 million and $500 million”

You, uh, may want to check the links Google references when it spits out an AI-generated answer - that evaluation is for a financing/payment company of the same name!

It's hard to put an exact value on how much we have since finances fluctuate (though I would imagine that some form of real-time info is floating out there somewhere on a reputable third-party site). The same can be said in terms of opportunities to improve the site - and in that case, improvement is just so broad in scope it's hard to give a straightforwards answer. It's overall too hard and too vague to have a good conversation about finances when what needs improvement/fixing and the timeframe for putting them in place may change based on needs at the time.

As for how much comes in each year, the supporters page has that info already - it changes yearly. You just have to, well, keep an eye on it next year to see how much they donate next year.

Scratch's Finances?

You can read their tax returns here. As of December 31, 2023 (latest available), they had about $5.4 million in total assets (and a bit shy of $1 million in liabilities). No individual number is going to tell you the full story, and really making sense of all that and what it means is going to require a decent understanding of accounting, but those are the numbers you can start with.
