Can you post itch ad as project.

I made a game and published it on site itch dot io (a platform for publishing games)

The game follows community guidelines

Am I allowed to post a project which links to my game.
I saw few people did this without consequences, but I want to be sure.,
especially because I have higher number of lowers, so I have higher responsibility.

Game isn't made in Scratch so I can't upload it there.

itch dot io isn’t allowed here (source: you get muted for saying the site’s name (with the actual dot instead of the word)) so you can’t share the link

Are you 100% sure,
when you post itch link it doesn't allow you to post it to protect you from sharing private information rather than protect community from you.

  • Based on the Scratch Terms of Use—especially section 3.7—you are allowed to post links to external websites as long as doing so does not cause a violation of any part of the Terms (or the Community Guidelines). In practice, this means:

  • Appropriate Content: The external website must not contain content that is inappropriate for the Scratch community (e.g., sites with explicit, violent, or otherwise unsuitable material).

  • Non-Spammy: The link should not be used for spamming or overt commercial advertisement.

  • User Responsibility: It’s up to you to ensure that the linked content complies with Scratch’s rules. If the external content is acceptable under the Terms of Use, then posting a link is allowed.

  • Technical Behavior: (For example, links posted in project descriptions on Scratch aren’t clickable—but that’s a technical implementation detail rather than a rule against posting them.)

So, to conclude: Yes, posting links to external websites is allowed on Scratch provided the content you’re linking to is appropriate and does not cause a violation of the Terms of Use or Community Guidelines.

It works in description, while other inappropriate things gets banned when in description. Would this mean this is safety oversight, or maybe itch links are actually allowed.

itch is not good to link. 1. the forum gremlins got me for trying to say it, 2. it contains things that kids definitely should not be seeing because it has little to no moderation.

Yeah but comparing it with YouTube, YouTube has a lot of inappropriate content, but you're linking one specific video which isn't inappropriate is a often practice among Scratchers .
YouTube can also suggest a lot of things and have chat which is relatively unmoderated. Itch doesn't suggest you any games.

Itch links are not removed from description of projects, while other things are.

You're right, if the game is fine and you don't spam then the link is compliant with the CG and the ToU. But the mods will probably ban it anyways.

No, you’re wrong. You cannot link itch on the site at all.

The filters aren’t always consistent - you may not link things that mute you.

I agree with the comments above. You also should not be trying to link itch in the the first place, as it contains some extremely inappropriate/offensive/scary content which is very easy to find once on the site.

What about embed itch links like
https://itch dot io/embed-upload/

It shows only game and nothing else.

You can link itch links, but just not as comments, in description it is allowed. The search bar also allow itch links , it is not marked nfe like fnaf for example.
