My Friends Haven’t Received a Reply to Their Account Appeals :((

Hi guys,

I’m posting this on behalf of my friend whose Scratch account was recently banned. They’ve been trying to appeal the decision for over three months and have sent several polite emails from two different email addresses to Scratch Support. Unfortunately, they haven’t received any response yet.

My friend really wants to rejoin the Scratch community and is hoping to resolve this issue as soon as possible. Does anyone know what they should do next or if there’s another way to contact the Scratch Team?

Thanks! ^^

They'll just have to wait some more. Appeals can take a while to get sorted through.

Wow more than 3 months :0 ST must be very busy. But I've seen many people appeal after her and they have responses. She's getting a bit worried :,)

ST is mainly busy on the broken search engine and other stuff, so it can take a while for the appeals to get through.

I agree three months is a long time, but one other thing to note is that they need to make sure their appeals are respectful. If they are not, then the Scratch Team may ignore them. Also note that they should check their spam boxes, as occasionally emails from the Scratch Team end up there.

When I say “disrespectful”, I mean appeals that include things like this:
  • “I was banned for no reason!”
  • “You're stupid for banning me!”
  • Nitpicking the reasons for the ban
  • Trying to deflect blame onto other people

For an appeal to be successful, the banned user needs to take responsibility for their actions (and this crucially means admitting to what they did without trying to deflect blame) and provide assurance they won't do it again.

The developers are not the moderation team

yikes

there's always a reason for banning and bans are not mistakes like 90% of the time

Yes, I agree. they have outlined what they did wrong in the appeal. The issue is that they haven't received a reply yet ^^

She thinks ST is ignoring her but I'm sure that's not true. I think she wants some reassurance. I did do some ‘research’ and there are a good amount of people who have appealed after/around the same time who have received responses.

Yeah - the appeal process can be frustrating.

Scratch Team receives a lot of emails and it's possible that they're working on it. They could have seen it and are deciding whether to keep your friend banned or not.

I know a Scratcher that took them a year to regain access back to Scratch; they also ranted about it on here.

Just hang in there, and it'll happen. If possible, you should ask your friend to see the email they sent the Scratch Team, and double-check.

You could also tell your friend to make an alt, and as long as their projects aren't removed, they can remix them.
Do not. That's called ban evading. Do not encourage it.
Oh I didn't realize. I know someone who was temp. banned cause people didn't like him because of how he made studios and stuff and they mass reported him, that's what they did.

Unless the ban was for 90 minutes, the cause was not mass reporting
