I have been wanting to make a pvp card game using OC's of mine and friends but every idea I come up with feels too similar to other card games like pokemon and such just with a new “gimmick”. This is not what I want though, I want to make a game with different gameplay while still being a pvp game. I honestly feel lost rn.

Maybe you could have a focus on both players working towards a goal rather than on defeating eachother like in Pokemon? So it would act as a race.
Like, you could (in the game sense) build a tower, and the first person to reach a certain ‘height’ or score wins?
You'd probably be able to sabotage the enemy and all that stuff.
