The reasoning is that lmao can be used with different things “laughing my apples off” or “laughing my acorns off”. He also said that its used so much in the world that its allowed.

“lmao” is considered a mild swear, like a few other words that the filter across other parts of the site would let me say but not the forums, so it is allowed on scratch (as long as it is not used in an innapropriate context)

Ok, I don't plan on ever using it myself, but I wanted to know if I should report it if I see it. It never even occurred to me that it's not filtered. Thanks!
