Creating Art On Scratch

A lot of times I'm making projects, I go to “costumes” to make my sprites, but they always come out looking wacky and blocked. I've seen other people with really good art on Scratch, like shading, and highlights and whatnot. So I was wondering if any Scratch artists could tell me how they do it, or what perks they use.

Thank you!

If you can't use alternative programs, look at vector tips (assuming you're making vectors). The rest comes with practice and uncovering more and more as you learn about Scratch and art.

Other Scratchers tend to use outside softwares like Procreate, Blender, or Photoshop. (please know those aren't required - there are thousands (if not, more) art platforms for you to create art on. Just export the art piece and import it to your Scratch project.)

If those aren't accessible to you, then you will just need some practice and tips for the vector editor.

Try using an external piece of software, which may have more features & therefore outperform Scratch's costume editor. My personal favorite for vector graphics is Inkscape, as it's free & open-source, and has advanced features.
