I'm about halfway through the game and bosses have been sparse, does this get rectified later on?

The pacing is a bit slower than expected, but I believe that is due to the framerate of what the Switch is processing at. If you try clearing up more enemies while you're exploring certain islands, big or small, it should help with the slow framerate at least. That probably won't be able to be fixed until Switch 2 is released, or at least given game patches for games on the Nintendo Switch.

To be honest, Sonic Generations(+ it's remastered version) is not that good, Sonic feels like he's being pulled down to the ground on Mars, and the controls feel too slippery, funny to question it took 11 years after for Sega to finally get how to make Sonic not feel like a race car. I hope we get an update to SxSG that gives us the option for new and improved Classic and Modern Sonic physics, and hopefully DLC levels, for other zones from Sonic Lost World, Sonic Forces, and Sonic Frontiers. It's canically possible, since The “old man” in Shadows campaign said that white space could connect to the future.
