AI chatbot helper, restriction prompt to improve learning

Emeraldore12 wrote:

This is alright except for ONE BIG PROBLEM!

Scratch may become blocked on school devices for its use of AI. It has been on the verge of being blocked for so long because kids mostly use it for games instead of coding, but now it will most likely get blocked because school admins HATE AI being used in schools even if it is told not to give whole answers and not solves somebodies' math homework. If this happens, I (and many others) will be absolutely devastated.

Although the post is great!
I see your point.

But I have to ask: What happens AI is integrated (added) to everything?

It’s coming slowly, but AI is making a big impact on many apps and companies. (If we don’t get destroyed by AI first) everything will eventually have AI integrated into it.

The goal for scratch should be to find a way to implement AI without compromising the goals of scratch. (Teach children to code, be safe for kids, etc.)

I don't think it doesn't work on student profiles…

Support.

I don't get why people are thinking this will defeat the purpose of coding, it's just basically like teachers. Teachers in schools teach students how to do stuff, not telling them the answers, just telling them how to figure out the answer. This is just the same as what the AI is doing, teaching people how coding works. If this AI teaching stuff is bad, then surely teachers in schools would be bad.

Does Scratch need AI? I feel like this is a good idea, but

1. Schools hate AI
2. We have HwS, which is made of real human beings, not a bot that probably can't explain the logic of it clearly

Why does that need to be the goal? Not everything needs AI. Especially not a beginners' coding platform. There'll also be loads of community pushback- people already have extremely strong feelings about AI art, saying that it “steals artists' work to train itself”. Of course such discussions are popular on other platforms mostly but there are 13+ users on Scratch, some of whom use social media, and some of that proportion includes people who hate AI. AI art is frowned upon slammed just for using other people's art as inspiration, Scratchers will hate this for making it easier to make complex projects, thus kind of decreasing the respect there is for people who put time and effort into their projects, when ‘everyone can do it’- and easily so.

I appreciate your time for writing this, but I feel like you're still misunderstanding.

This is the only fair point.

Which it in fact can. Have you even tried it? Is it down again, or are you confused on what chatbot I mean instead of just going to the original, non-prompted AI?

Yes, but this isn't about AI art and I literally was against it in THE OP

Again, this isn't about AI art.

But people should in fact learn how to do complex things. This feels like you want people to keep making simple stuff. This is about learning. Not the AI giving you the whole entire code, such as stax.fun which I am against. It's about explaining the things as I have mentioned so many times in this thread. It does not just give you the code. It is not meant to just give you the code. It can't make the project for you.

I think ai art is okay, it just has to be known that the art is ai and that the person using the art has no credit on the art whatsoever, even if they made the prompt.

(interesting thing I found out. If you give it the list of blocks from the OP it actually can accurately code many things). I could see it having some merit, again if it was heavily moderated. also, it starts getting a bit… I dunno, scatterbrained? after it has been talking for a while. Just a note.

Hm what? The (un)official demo by me is currently down since the api is dead, I will update the api to the new one so you can test thr full prompt yourself! Yay

I'm gonna make a gpt in scratch like what you have stated, and report back to see what happens with a beta test.

Ok, I used your instructions on a custom gpt Maker and this is what happened.
