WHY DOES SCRATCH PFPs ONLY LET STUFF UNDER 512 KB AND LESS THAN 500x500 PIXELS, AND SAME FOR STUDIO THUMBNAILS

Probably for server space reasons. Thumbnails are never actually displayed at 500x500 anyways; for profile pictures, I'm pretty sure the largest they're shown is 90x90, which is in the forums.

Using the webp trick, you can get thumbs and pfps to display at a higher res
