Instead of restricting them from commenting, or making them speak with text to speech, you can bleep out the text using bleep sound censored, and for commenting, the bad word can be tagged like Roblox.

How will they bleep every project that has a bad word?

Scratch already censors bleeps, e.g. pr****r (if printer was a bad word)
So safe to assume this is rejected

Erm actually, it'll pause you from commenting/posting for 5 minutes, and it getting tagged won't do that.

Sure, then people can't see the word, but the meaning is still there. Anyone trying to swear, type slurs, etc should be at the very least muted, not given infinite chances to bypass the filter.

The ST can just find bypassed words and add them to the banlist.

Which is just more moderation for the ST. Anyways, what about the first part of my post, “Sure, then people can't see the word, but the meaning is still there”?

If they swear 10 times, at this point, all of their future comments will be tagged, the whole thing, unless it's been 1 minute since they did that.

no it's not acceptable to swear even once

if some parent saw their kid's computer and saw that someone told them “you ######## # ## #### ## #### ” they would most likely never allow them here again

Even if the word is bleeped out, that's not particularly friendly (hence it is unsuitable for Scratch), because the existence of bleeping at least implies that a swear word was used.

I think people would get confused by the tags because not everyone in Scratch plays Roblox and knows about it.

I mean they mute you when you try to use a “bleeped” word

Yeah but that stops the person from saying it while getting tagged won’t

That is very true, a parent would definitely understand or try to understand what they said
