Scratch is nonprofit, meaning it can't be monetized It can still be monetized, or make money (Not in your way). So I think its not gonna happen.

What would the subscription be for??? This is very vague. Also, Scratch is non profit, so no support.

Scratch is nonprofit, why would they need a subscription if they can’t be monetized?

The OP probably doesn’t know that Scratch Foundation is non-profit
but why would Scratch Foundation make a subscription for some coding thing
that is funded by Donations

Scratch is non-profit, and a subscription won't work

Everyone seems talking about subscriptions as in paid ones, like a premium version. It may not be just that though.
Are you talking about other kinds, such as email? Where you get updates on things like… updates?

Scratch already has email subscriptions, but they're currently project idea emails and stuff for educators. It would be nice to see more - possibly some targeted at long-time users, or, like you said, update logs. Are you talking about other kinds, such as email? Where you get updates on things like… updates?

It isn’t necessarily a non profit can’t be monetized, how else would they run? Computers, land space and bandwidth ain’t free, after all. Scratch is nonprofit, why would they need a subscription if they can’t be monetized?
The problem with monetization would be spending the money, although it’s definitely possible, at least currently.
The problem with implementing a subscription would be verifying user age, and ensuring no one grabs mommy’s credit card for Scratch Premium.

Well your idea is not good scratch is not profit while they could make money that is not point. Why would we even need a subscription for scratch? I had this idea
Scratch was made to code what are you going to do with a subscription. Skip ads there are no ads (except the comment ads)

Yes they can, they just can give the money to the owner Scratch is nonprofit, why would they need a subscription if they can’t be monetized?
For things like staff/mods they can use the money
How do you think non-profit zoos exist?

Tons of charities and non-profits rely and thrive on donations.

Scratch cant just walk up to Google and say, hey, we need 1,276,372 pounds for our staffing… can you give it to us by Jan 6? Thanks!
Like zoos, sure they rely on donations, but do you think they can live without entry fees and memberships? How about gift shops where they throw a two inch plushie at you and you have to pay them 50.99 dollars?

Rules about non-profits:
(To be tax-exempt under section 501©(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, an organization must be organized and operated exclusively for exempt purposes set forth in section 501©(3), and none of its earnings may inure to any private shareholder or individual.)
From the IRA.
You can make money, but it goes to the company and not any of the owners. It means that scratch can use the money to fund its self and others, but it can fund a person.

Scratch does have a merch store. How about gift shops where they throw a two inch plushie at you and you have to pay them 50.99 dollars?
Anyways, I'm not sure why anyone would want Scratch to have a subscription service - why can't it be free until/unless absolutely necessary?

I don't want scratch to have a subscription for blocks, no that would be awful.Scratch does have a merch store. How about gift shops where they throw a two inch plushie at you and you have to pay them 50.99 dollars?

Maybe like a email or tutorials?
Or maybe open-source codes?
Or maybe just a badge next to your name?
I just want a way for scratch to have more funding and resources. More staff would equal less stress and less work for scratch.
