Don’t you have to change more than half of a remixed project?
so there is this person in my class (not saying names, age, gender, etc.) that just wants to remix everything without changing anything of it. They literally just remix the project and leave it there. They have “i remix projects i think are cool” on their profile, I’m pretty sure a remix is something you copy most stuff from but change most of it. Just a simple rant of something i might say in the future. :3 edit: to the people who are replying to this, they aren’t changing a single thing, not even deleting a costume, or sound or changing the color of something, they are just remixing it, and sharing it, the only thing they change is the Instructions.

You can report the project if it doesn't change anything at all (probably, I'm not that professional), but banning small remixes aren't allowed.

(probably, I'm not that professional), but banning small remixes aren't allowed.Correct. Source is the You can report the project if it doesn't change anything at all Questions About Scratch Directory 7:
and the Q: Are exact remixes allowed?Scratch Wiki:
A: No. Scratch is about creativity, and making exact remixes throws that goal down the drain. First, start by reporting the users’ copied projects. If the user doesn't stop, contact the Scratch Team.
Please note a rule-following remix could be a single sprite recolor, as noted in the Scratch Wiki link. It does not need to be half of the project that needs to be remixed. …making an exact copy is not allowed…

Changing a single sprite colour doesn’t count. You should make a noticeable change. If you don’t then what’s the point of remixing it?(probably, I'm not that professional), but banning small remixes aren't allowed.Correct. Changing the color of a sprite is literally a noticeable change. Changing a single sprite colour doesn’t count. You should make a noticeable change. If you don’t then what’s the point of remixing it?

No, it’s not really. Remix a project to make it yours. If it’s an exact copy, then why not just refer people to the original project?Changing the color of a sprite is literally a noticeable change. It still technically follows remix culture. A sprite change is definitely noticeable. No, it’s not really. Remix a project to make it yours. I do believe intent is more important than the actual changes, though. Regardless of the changes.

In https://scratch.mit.edu/about/ video, it shows that the remixer only edited the costume and added a line of code, so no.

Recolors are allowed. As long as it is clear that the sprite was recolored (and such a change is indicated in the Notes and Credits), then in the eyes of the Scratch Team it is an allowed remix. No, it’s not really. “Exact copy” implies that nothing was even recolored.

No, you don't. You just have to make a noticeable change, and preferably document it in the Notes & Credits. Don’t you have to change more than half of a remixed project?
Exact copies are not allowed- report them, please.

To add onto this, from what I have interpreted from various conversations and rules I have read, the change has to be meaningful. So if you slightly changed the color of an asset or changed the color of an insignificant asset in a large project, those may be reportable. But recoloring a major asset in a project is not reportable. Recolors are allowed. As long as it is clear that the sprite was recolored (and such a change is indicated in the Notes and Credits), then in the eyes of the Scratch Team it is an allowed remix.
“Exact copy” implies that nothing was even recolored.

(#13)common miscomception:

just reporting a project does not mean it gets deleted instantly. the ST is busy with other matters and it may take up to a week for them to handle the report.

And if it was recently, keep in mind that most of the ST is probably on break.(#13)common miscomception:

You don’t have to change 50% of it, just at least one notable change will do fine. Please report any content you see that doesn’t change anything or doesn’t change anything notable. Note it may take some time.

Ask them to add the projects to a studio of theirs instead.

There is no set amount of changes that determines a remix. However, it is important that the remixer mentions that types of changes they made to a project in the project notes as per the Community Guidelines.
Please report the projects that are in violation. Just to double-check to make sure you're reporting correctly - please make sure it's the “report” button on the project page and not the “report” button on the profile page (as those buttons do separate things).
If this is related to a school activity, we would also recommend bringing this to the attention of a teacher as they might not using Scratch properly for schoolwork.
