No. You can have a gun that is cartoony and such but you can not kill people.

My friend had their project taken down for guns so I think you should be careful with it. Probably some types (like water guns, fantasy type things, etc) are ok though

The linked essay has a list of Common Weapons that are allowed under certain contexts, and a list of Banned Weapons that are never allowed. The essay says this about guns:

Guns
Guns are constantly used in projects, such as in crime animations or shoot-em-up games, war animations and spy games.
Some users have experience with gun violence and deal with gun-related trauma, and many children live in fear of gunfire. Therefore, Scratch has placed a ban on gun projects.
Although this rule extends to any gun model, it is ok to use a substitution, such as a water gun, laser gun, or Nerf gun.

If it's so obnoxiously cartoony that nobody could ever get traumatized by it, then I guess its permissible. The Scratch Team is still likely going to have a bone to pick with you if you put in bonafide firearms in your projects though, however cartoony it looks.

You can absolutely go ham when you use non-firearms though, such as water guns, Nerf guns, and laser guns.

Come to think of it, laser guns can absolutely be lethal, if Star Wars taught me anything. And if you use a gun that fires yellow bullets, you could make the argument that “But it's a laser gun that fires yellow lasers!”

Please don't take my advice on that, it's absolutely horrid

I mean, yes the firearms might traumatize some scratchers cuz of
gun violence but firearms are staple in games even in kids games (most are probably fake firearms or toys)
and even old cartoons have firearms, If we ban the guns we might violate 2nd Amendment /j
and some kids might already seen guns in their lives

even though I might say this
your project might still get taken down
cuz of the real firearms

so use toy guns or if the project still
gets taken down, reduce violence or make the gun unrealistic

As long as those guns are water guns, toy guns, or even lazer guns!
(not real ones because that's an easy way for your project to get banned.)

Must be water guns, lazers (like those from Star Wars), toy guns and cartooney guns that harmless are allowed. The real guns are banned.
