My biggest tip when it comes to those kinds of formats is: Have an actual melody. Have something that will change, instead of repeating the four bars over and over. This significantly makes the song less repetitive.
(And yes, 80% of the songs on the Beepbox Scratch forums make this obvious beginner mistake while using Ultrabox to make themselves look like “professionals”.)

First of all, I can see why the website got confused because 77 BPM isn't usually a common tempo. Usually, the BPM of songs will be a multiple of 5, usually between 80 and 160 BPM, although I am not entirely sure.

As for the key, I could also see why it could get easily confused, as the voices are out of tune. But how does tuning work, exactly?

Every octave is a ratio of 2 : 1 (A4 : A3). A4 is 440 Hz, and A3 is 220 Hz. A4=440Hz is the standard tuning, also known as “concert pitch.” Each note is actually an equation. Let's say we have A4, or 440 Hz. This formula is how the Hz of all the notes are calculated.

n = 440 * (2 ^ (s / 12))

The variable n represents the note (B♭4, D5, etc), and the variable s represents the amount of semitones from A4. So if we have C5, that would mean that s = 3. So, supposing that n = F♯5, we can plug in values into the equation to get our Hz for the note F♯5.

440 * (2 ^ (s / 12)) = n
440 * (2 ^ (9 / 12)) = n
440 * (2 ^ 0.75) = n
440 * 1.68 ≅ 739.2

Therefore, F♯5 is approximately equal to 739.2 Hz. However, if we were to unapproximate this, it would be equal to 739.988845423 Hz. Notice how if we were to change the tuning of A4, the Hz of literally every note would change, too.

This is why it's important to stay in-tune while singing and/or playing an instrument. You need to have the correct notes, and you need to stay inside your key.

Also, before making any song, you must first decide on a BPM and a key. I would recommend having new sections every 8 or 16 measures, depending on your BPM. If it's slower, you'll want to opt for 8. If it's faster, you'll want to opt for 16.

Details - This is a theme song, so I'd like it to be short (2 minutes max) and catchy. The theme song is for an educational talk show, so keep that in mind while coming up with the melody. I do have a preference for instrumental over electronic music, but making it catchy is a higher priority. When using instruments, I like guitar/piano involved in the music, but this is not necessary. The main goal is for it to be a catchy, on-topic theme song. It doesn't need any lyrics or words - just a melody. The educational show answers intriguing questions and explains cool phenomena, so having an on topic theme song is a high priority.
