What happened with Scratch AI?
The last time I heard of Scratch AI was the first time I heard of it. From what I remembered, they were thinking of the ability to generate art for your projects, right? Is this still in development or did they give up? Was it too costly? Do we know anything?!

What happened with Scratch AI?
From "Inside Scratch Lab: AI Image Generation":
The linked article explains the many current pitfalls of AI image generation which led to this decision.
Generating AI art in Scratch is not planned, but other forms of generative AI may be considered in the future. Because of the many challenges with AI image generation, we won’t be including it in Scratch any time soon, even on our Scratch Lab site. The Scratch Lab team will continue to keep an eye on progress in this area, as we tinker with it to help us understand the possibilities. We’re reflecting broadly on the role of AI in creative learning, guided by this essay from Mitch Resnick. And we’re exploring other uses of AI, beyond image generation (what if you could use AI to generate animations, music, or sound effects for your project? What if we had a block that could create new costumes from a prompt? What about generating chat responses, project ideas, or even Scratch code?).

"Inside Scratch Lab: AI Image Generation":Ah, I see. Thank you! I guess that the biggest issue with AI is that it's hard to moderate, which makes sense. I think it is still a work/idea in progress for the ST

What happened with Scratch AI?
Basically if you don't want to read the whole long article, there are just too many issues with genAI currently for the ST to want to implement it, including:
- Possibility to generate inappropriate things
- Prejudice in image outputs
- Pretty much all current genAI models were trained on scraped data without people's permission or credit
- I don't think they mentioned this in the article but genAI also consumes a lot of resources and isn't great for the planet.

They aren't working on it as ericr said in the blog post above. I think it is still a work/idea in progress for the ST

What happened with Scratch AI?
NEVER add ai to scratch. seriously. a third of the users, including myself, would quit, because it would completely remove all purpose from scratch. the point is teaching code, by letting people do it themselves. same with the art work. and the music. and the animations. its right in the name. done from SCRATCH!!!!!

First of all, this is an old thread. Don't necropost.
Second of all, capitalize your words right. It makes it easier for others to see

Third of all, you're wrong. Full stop. I'm not trying to insult you, I just want to clear some things up. AI is a tool. It enhances productivity. Can't draw? BAM! You've got a custom background. Need some audio? BAM! You've got yourself some audio. Cobble it together with code and BAM! You've got yourself a good project. If anything, Scratch should add AI because it would increase the possibilities. If you want to continue this discussion, feel free to talk on my profile. This thread is old.
