2024: A Year In Movie Reviews

Here, I'll review movies that came out in a 2024. I haven't seen every 2024 movie, and please don't spoil any movies

**Big City Greens the Movie: Spacecation:** I love this movie. The songs and animation were such an upgrade from the show. 10/10.

**IF:** This was confusing; They set up multiple subplots, that are never explained or completed. Overall, this is just alright. 6/10.

**Inside Out 2:** This was good, although the plot is pretty much the same as the original. And some characters were somewhat unlikeable. 7/10

**Inanimate Insanity Season 2: The Movie:** Words cannot describe how beautiful this is. 100/10.

**Despicable Me 4:** It was funny, good villain, but some scenes are unnecessary. 9/10.

**The Loud House Movie: No Time to Spy:** It was pretty good, better than the original. 7/10.

Transformers ONE
don't know how to write a spoiler free review since the movie is full of spoilers (probably anything related to sentinel prime CRIME)

that's the only movie i watched in 2024 that i enjoyed (the only other time i went to the movies was to watch despicable me 4, which i didn't enjoy since me and my dad were stuffing our faces with popcorn)

Forgot about Despicable Me 4.

It was very funny, I liked the dynamics of the characters and the villain was cool. 9/10.

Inside out 2 is a 7/10, but BCG Space-cation gets a 10/10?

Movies I watched:

Ghost Busters Frozen Empire: mid, nothing compared to the previous movies, although I can't compare games and movies, it's still better than Sonic Super Stupid Stars. 6/10.

Inanimate Insanity 18: an amazing series finale, it tied up most plot holes created throughout the series, but we still don't know where *some* people went. 9/10.

The Sandy Cheeks Movie: I already made a whole project about this rat-tag of a cash grab from week 1. -10/10.

The Loud House: No Time To Spy/ The Casagrandes Movie. Meh. 6.5/10.

Kung Fu Panda 4: Just some silly kids movie, still better than the third, though. 7/10.

**Moana 2:** It was… enjoyable. However, there were some cringe-worthy moments, the songs were weak compared to the first film’s songs, the pacing was off, and there was just a lack of that, that flavor that the original film was filled with. However, the animation was stunning and that climax just came out of NOWHERE (in a good way). I literally wasn’t expecting that to happen in the climax (won’t say what due to spoilers) and it almost kept me on the edge of my seat. 6.5/10

**The Wild Robot:** This movie was AMAZING. The animation was absolutely spectacular, the soundtrack was majestic, and, yes, while the plot is based off of an existing book that did well so the plot is preplanned, the way it was executed was amazing and was edited a bit to give a more serious, darker tone. 10/10

**Inside Out 2:** This one was amazing as well. The new emotions each had their own traits to make the storyline more exciting and also add room for more jokes, and there were some places that added to the worldbuilding of the world of Inside Out (one example is iirc the Secrets Bank(?)). The climax kept me on the edge of my seat, I was like “is she gonna have a heart attack?” (I shall give no context to this due to spoilers) and it made me so emotional. However, it sort of felt like a repeat of the first film’s plot, just with the other main five emotions tagging along instead of just Joy and Sadness. 9/10

**Wicked:** This was absolutely fantastic. It’s just *chef’s kiss* majestic. The sets were amazing, the songs were amazing, and the actors and actresses absolutely mastered their characters, especially Ariana Grande in her role of Glinda. This was one of the best live-action PG movies I’ve seen in a long time. 10/10

**Red One:** This was an… interesting movie. The premise is certainly very creative and the set designs were pretty good, but the storyline and plot was just… I can’t seem to find the proper word for it. There were a lot of cringeworthy moments and the character development was clear but it wasn’t visible in the characters themselves. This movie is about one of the true meanings of Christmas, kindness. But for a movie filled with action and violence about rescuing a kidnapped Santa Claus, I felt like it didn’t really send that kindness message well. But it was pretty enjoyable—well, for me, my mom, and my brother. 6/10

**Conclave:** A very suspenseful political thriller. The characters each had their own motives and insecurities to become pope, and the discovery of each secret kept me on the edge of my seat. However, this movie was a bit boring at a few times and the protagonist is a bit too calm compared to the other characters. I also felt like the actor for Vincent Benitez could've done his role better. But overall a great movie. 7.9/10

**Transformers One:** This is actually a really good movie! Of course, this film had terrible trailers which caused it to flop at the box office, but those who watched it anyways gave positive reviews. I decided to watch it a few months ago, and it blew my expectations away! The second half of the movie is really dark (bro, one character ripped another one in half) and I like that since we don’t get enough of that in PG-rated films. The animation is pretty good, and the jokes are really good (my favorites were the one where Orion Pax looks like he’s going to transform but then it abruptly cuts to him running away, and the “My finger can transform, guess which one!” joke). However, it still has its flaws. B-127 is the trope of that annoying side character, but he still has his moments. Elita-1 was a great and pretty developed side character, though! Orion Pax and D16’s transition from friends to enemies felt a bit too sudden, and the dialogue and dialogue delivery for Alpha Trion didn’t feel natural. Overall, a really good movie! 7.9/10

Inside Out 2 was amazing i honestly think it was better than the first one and it does a good job at tackling real problems in a kid-friendly manner 9/10
Despicable Me 4 had a joke of a plot and something else just felt off, it didn't have that Minions/Despicable Me feeling to it 5/10
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 was easily the best Sonic movie because it was actually based on Sonic, i mean the first one was a roadtrip movie but this was incredibly good 8/10
i honestly dont remember much about Kung Fu Panda 4 so i cant really rate it
i watched Out of My Mind in class right after finishing the book (which was way better than the movie) but the movie was also pretty good i wouldn't say it deserved that 100% on Rotten Tomatoes it's more like a 6/10

**Flow:** A really great film! The animation is gorgeous for a film with a relatively low budget compared to today’s animated films, but then again, it’s an indie film animated in Blender that looks like one of those things you’d see on YouTube with a few thousand views (this is in a positive manner, of course), so that could explain a lot. There’s not much going on here for the plot, though. All the characters are really well-developed for non-verbal animals, and all the character interactions feel very natural! I still wonder what happened to that secretary bird, though. 8.5/10
