Hi everyone! I just had this idea (kinda based on an SWC daily) - we should do a “Bestselling Bookstore” day (or week), where we comment the blurbs of our WIPs, and people say if they would read them!

I think it's a fun way to get more excited and confident with our writing and show support for other writers! Love you all <3

I second this! People already do this, (At least I do), and it's a great way to boost morale, gain constructive criticism, and overall build relationships between the members!

We could do it like a “special” activity. After the studio's description, before the QOTDs and AOTWs:

SWOW is an amazing studio for writers…

And then:

Special activity of the month:
BESTSELLING BOOKSTORE

Here we add the description of the “event”.

Would someone be able to take over position of studio host? Since I'm getting back into school I don't have as much time to get on. Thanks

Also, someone on the studio suggested this:

Recommendation: (Just thought this would be fun) We could do some kind of ‘Prompt of the week’ in the description. It will just have a type of writing (Short story, essay, poem, etc.), genre (Fantasy, non fiction, etc.), and a prompt (If it's an essay, what is being debated. If it's something else, just something that it is mainly about). It could just be something people can use to decide what to write about if they want.

That sounds cool! We could create a forum for the prompts of the week, so it incentivates writers more to write the potw!

Sorry for not being very active, I really needed a rest from scratch to enjoy my summer free of social media. But I came back! (stronger than a 90's trend, if you get the reference)

I agree, that sounds cool! I wonder if we could use the SWOW General Forum for it? It's just kinda there and was never closed, but we didn't really use it much as a studio XD

The main reason I dropped in today was for this:

QOTD and AOTW Suggestions
I don't think role rotations have been around for a while, and since they were the main source of QOTDs I thought these ideas would come in handy (⁠◕⁠ᴗ⁠◕⁠✿⁠)

QOTDs:

• What got you into writing? Why did you continue?

• Is there a genre you would never write in? Why/ why not?

• Do you have a favorite time of day to write during? If so, what is it?

• Would you rather have infinite ideas or infinite time to write?

• The spotlight is on you! Would you prefer to see your life adapted into a book or a movie? How about a play, musical or poem? Explain your choice!

• What is something you'd like to tell a character that they never got to hear from other characters?

• What book(s) have you stayed up all night to finish reading?

• What character/s do you look up to or admire and why?

• What random things have suddenly inspired you to write?

• If you could give a story or character a theme song, what would you pick and why?




AOTWs:
• Come up with the longest author alias you can think of!

• Make your own riddle, and answer other people's riddles in the comments!

• Start an interesting paragraph or prompt, but just as it gets to the best part refuse to elaborate so that

• Describe a random object in the most roundabout and vague way you can!

• Write a review of any book, movie, poem etc. Add why you recommend it!

• Take the title of something you've written and invert it (e.g. Lucky me! –> Unlucky you?)

• Fill in the blank with random words or phrases: Once upon a ____, there was a ____ who didn't ____. One day the ____ decided to ____! People far and wide were _____ when they heard this. It was ____! After ______ had ____, everyone lived ________. The ____.

• Come up with the response to a question, then reply to other people's responses with what the question could be!

Hello! I am so sorry for my own inactivity. I got casted in my school's musical so it's been hectic! I feel like we need some kind of event to spark activity… maybe we can finally get around to that secret santa?
I love the idea of Prompt of the Week! Maybe we can highlight some good examples from previous weeks to really get users excited to write! As for the Bookstore idea, I ATE IT UP! I think it should be every other week personally but that can be tweaked.

The Bookstore

I think for the bookstore thing, we should:

• Brainstorm an actual name

• Write the description
  

• MAYBE do a project about it? With a nice thumbnail so it's more appealing. The project could go like this: description of the event and a link to the SWOW comment section. (But maybe it's too much work making the project. If it's going to be an actual regular thing, we should think where to put it in the description so it stands out)

I agree with this, but maybe it will create a competitive ambient between writers, and some may get sad not having their work highlighted. Maybe we can make a list of the writers who complete the POTW each week, so everyone gets a shoutout.

Maybe it could be a monthly thing? Also, maybe it would work better if it was, instead of in the comment section of the studio, in the comment section of a separate project! This way, it doesn't get mixed up with the QOTDs and other stuff and writers don't have to go searching for the book blurbs!

Totally agree, that is much better.

I think the magazine needs a comeback. I'm thinking a once a month sort of thing, and I can run it. In fact, I can make an account specifically for the magazine. We need something for the community to get engaged with.

Maybe the magazine account can also release projects with blurbs of stories so the magazine account would have the magazines and Bestselling Book Blurbs (that is an incredible name, btw)
