I do not see eye-to-eye with you. If true fullscreen were implemented, younger scratchers would not know how to get out. And besides, the current fullscreen works fine as it does.

As far as I know, the project stage does not have the dimensions required to create true fullscreen. Let's take YouTube's fullscreen and compare the two. Footage from Scratch, when cropped to only show the player, does have the correct height, but not width. Thus, true fullscreen is impossible in Scratch without stretching sprites beyond recognition.

Bumping because of a duplicate and also because this is kind of interesting
That's possible. Maybe it could be fullscreen, but not completely covering your screen?

It would have the Scratch project, with your tabs above, your pfp below the project, and an exit fullscreen button below the project too. The exit fullscreen button would be translated to a user's selected language.
If a user wanted no tabs to appear, they could use their device's usual fullscreen method.

What if you could shift click the fullscreen button to do this, similar to how you can shift click the flag to activate turbo mode?
Also, here's a related topic which complements this one. It suggests an option for a 16:9 aspect ratio for the stage instead of 4:3.

Those are two different things. One will break a lot of old projects, and confuse people, not to mention really requiring a bit of a redesign of the project page, and the other will have no effect on either.

Anyways, this has to be just a project the size of the screen- I agree with what other have said here, and young Scratchers wouldn't likely know how to get out of fullscreen (without rebooting their device).
Additionally, make this feature optional- especially on Safari, this doesn't either reliably work and some gestures on the screen will exit fullscreen, or cause annoying popups that make it hard to use on an iPad (and Scratch 3.0 was designed with tablets in mind- “use a desktop” is not a workaround for this).

No support, just use Scratch fullscreen and F11. Plus, sometimes it's helpful to have it in only Scratch's fullscreen and not the browser's.
