please help

please only post here if you have a specific bug you need to fix, or a feature you need to add. you won't get much help if you ask people to make an entire platformer engine for you.

ok i just need the code to jump on a block like a platformer

If you DO need a whole tutorial, I recommend griffpatch's series.

Actually i think this bring up a good topic. i personally have only recently dipped my toes in the platforming genre. the griffpatch method is very well polished and works amazingly, however it would be difficult for a beginner to add good looking scrolling. the more generic platformer engine (the earliest I could find was qwertbob's engine) also works great with scrolling and is much more simplistic, the collisions are based of speed however so the collision resolution is… off sometimes. then there is a type of platformer derived (i think) from griffpatchs scrolling platformer. it uses much simpler approach than the modern one but is specifically designed to work with scrolling.
