Will scratch cost money soon? And if not, what if it did?

I have always wondered this, but would Scratch change into a profitable organization and charge users like how most people? And if not, what if they did? What would scratch be like? Please let me know if you have an idea. Thank you and have a good day!

They will not become a profit. If they did, they would likely add ads, subscriptions forced down your throat, a currency, etc. Just stuff most money hungry children's sites have.

Scratch will always be free because it is educational and its purpose is to simply teach kids the fundamentals of programming.

if it happened the whole scratch community would be really mad and scratch would probably loose money in the process (openprocessing, turbowarp, that stuff)
