This is NOT a bug but rather an intentional change by amazon, who provides the TTS for scratch. Amazon has changed their speech code so instead of Amazon Salli (the voice prior to this update), their other female voice Amazon Kendra plays instead.

What iS a bug is the fact that it's alternating between the old and new voices, probably due to caches. You may discuss that bug on its dedicated topic.

This isn't necessarily an update, but a bug with the change. On my most recent project, the TTS voices kept altering between the old and the new when I ran it once. Now they're stuck on the old. Specifically, on “alto” for the alternations. (Every voice is using the old sound.) But along with that, in the block when I want it to say “Then you need to buy that one pill.” It instead says, “Then what you need to buy that one pill.” I've checked many times to make sure it isn't a typo. Do you think you might know why these things are happening?

Vote on changing it back or I will record my voice on every project I made with text to speech and modify it with a higher pitch for Doggo and not modified for my character!

Yes, This seems to be a decision on Amazon's end, these glitches are likely to be solved by Amazon soon enough. However, it may be impossible to bring back the old voice, for the Scratch team likely has no control over this service provided by Amazon.

Yeah, I want the old voice back. Also, I think it is possible, because it alternates between the old voice and new voice sometimes.

Personally, I prefer the old voices. The Squeak is not the same. (I think Tenor wasn't changed). However, I think it's best to have both selectable, probably as
- Alto
- Alto (new)
- Tenor
- Tenor (new, if it did get changed and i havent noticed)
- Squeak
- Squeak (new)
- Giant
- Giant (new, if it did get changed and i havent noticed)
- Kitten
They could be ordered so that teh new ones are last as to not mess with anything using numbered indexes like pick random 1 to 5's.

They aren't a glitch, they're amazon trying to fit in this world where AI sounds better.

They also did for squeak as well, the squeak voice was the best for scratch cat

God I hate this update! My character doesn’t sound like himself anymore, The old one was better.
