if they shoot back, when they get shot, then how do you make them not shoot anymore? because I clicked it, but they still deducted my health!! I need help

add the script when clicked- stop other scripts in sprite perhaps? i have got a shooting game with enemies that shoot back if you would like to check it out- Third Person Shooter

What I do for these situations is I make the enemy have a second costume and I make it where if the costume # = 1 then (regular script to attack the player here) else stop script (not stop all)
