If I were to post on this topic, in 4 years or so and the topic was old and inactive then that would be considered necroposting.

My person belief on this is that if you don't want notifications then unfollow the topic, but that doesn't work in Scratch forums. If you post on something inactive for a long time then it's a necropost.
Note that in Suggestions the rules are a bit different, it is only a necropost if it was inactive for a long time AND you do not add to the discussion when you post, or bump because of a duplicate.

What is a necropost
Well, the exact reason isn't what's said above.
Necroposting is when you post on a topic in QaS that's more than 30 days old - essentially bringing up an old topic that warrants it to be asked again instead of keeping a topic the answer to the same question.
