[REVIVAL] Project ads (READ OP BEFORE REPLYING)
Project ads
Intro
Get your project onto ads!
One could go to My Stuff. They could go to the My Ads tab and create a new ad. New Scratchers cannot create ads. Supported file formats:
Mobile ads
- HTML
- SB2 (deletes Bluetooth-required extension blocks)
- SB3 (deletes Bluetooth-required extension blocks)
- PNG
- SVG
- GIF
- MP4
- Swift (Apple devices only)
Image
- HTML
- GIF (will not be on YT)
- PNG
- JPG
YT
- MP4
- MOV
- AVI
Requirements
- The file must be a maximum of 1000x360.
- The file must be under 800 MB.
- The file must be a valid type.
New blocks (and why they exist)
Scratch project files that don't have a “stop ad” block that are trying to be used for an ad will result in this message:
Sorry, but this project doesn't have a “stop ad” block. Add one to your ending script and try again.
Have you ever seen mobile ads that redirect you to the App Store? The “redirect to app store” block will do it!
This isn't rejected!
It won't advertise the project on Scratch. TOLORS talks about advertising projects on Scratch.
you know what to do

first not everyone uses app store, since app store is for apple devices
anyway scratch is gonna have to host those ads, making server strain more serious
some can’t use adblock (like me, because safari doesn’t have extensions)
and ads are annoying

… So, in a nutshell, what you are suggesting is free attention-giving to companies?
I don't believe that has any point - Why would you be giving attention freely to them? You cannot get paid back, as that violates you being a nonprofit (thus sinking you, if not directly to, then near bankruptcy or even the termination of your foundation's existance).
Could you please elaborate as to what point this would have? It's hard to see any…

TBH Scratch is already in a massive state of disrepair (thus sinking you, if not directly to, then near bankruptcy or even the termination of your foundation's existance)

Still rejected:
Also, nothing on the web can run Swift files without an emulator, and Safari doesn't let you, to my knowledge.
7.8 Project advertisements on the Scratch website
Some users are interested in having advertisements around the website which advertise Scratch projects or studios, even if they are not paid for these advertisements. However, it is unclear how projects would be chosen to be advertised. Also, this would require a Scratch Team member to ensure that inappropriate projects are not chosen to be advertised, and the Scratch Team does not currently have the resources to do this.

This feels like a fork of rejected suggestion #7.8 “Project advertisements on the Scratch website”, the only difference being the ads are not on the Scratch website.
Please also be mindful that the Scratch website is also non-profit, so ads are just a big no-no in general. If you're planning on making money of a Scratch project, please don't host the project here.
