Ban or discourage typing quirks that hinder accessibility
for people that use emojis. just don’t copy the emoji to your clipboard. that’s simple.eh emoji keyboard
and not capitalizing letters is a habit I do bc I feel like it. But if I want to use caps I just do and it happens
not capitalizing letters is also a habit of mine. but i never capitalize it even if i say i should
that can happen to others too
that’s an entire page of battling over some quirks. humanity is fun /j

I agree. Let’s weigh the pros and cons hereput posting typing quirks is also harmless so yeahThe OP and many, many of the other posts in this topic have been talking about how harmful they are and how there's no benefit. If you need to see why just look at any of those posts.
PROS:
May increase accessibility
May decrease attention seeking
May make the site less annoying for some
May encourage people to seek assistance with issues that are causing them to have to post typing quirks
CONS:
May make people annoyed
WILL take some getting used to

no one is going “look at me” by typing letters with numbers replaced
“seek assistance”? do i need to seek assistance if i. if i pause in a sentence?
and what if it’s something like autism? you can’t cure autism can you?
the pros already have 2 very flawed reasons y’know

You are severely inconveniencing a group of people who are already severely inconvenienced in almost everything they do for “fun.” Also hate to go there but passing it off as just an inconvenience is part of the reason African Americans had to drink from separate water fountains for decades.no benefits? have you guys ever heard of expressing thyself and “fun”?put posting typing quirks is also harmless so yeahThe OP and many, many of the other posts in this topic have been talking about how harmful they are and how there's no benefit. some of them aren’t harmful at all. and if you really can’t read it you can ask for what it meant. almost no one on scratch will snap at you for that

I know little symbols can be a bit difficult for accessibility at times, yes, but at the same time, refer to Za-Chary's post on this.
You didn't seem to be listening to the several other reasons there are for them other than “attention seeking”. Pretty much every person I've seen with a typing symbol, including myself, has reasons unrelated to wanting attention for them.
They can't always seek assistance, and it's not that OCD has to be treated. Sure a mental illness of sorts but like ADHD and such, it can't always be cured or helped with in cases, nor do they always have to be fixed. Some issues like these can't be fixed. People don't always have the money, time, or freedom to get help, even if they could otherwise.

Not everyone who uses these symbols has OCD, but there are a good amount of those who do. And before you say I did, no, I never said that everyone who has a typing quirk has OCD.But I thought that you had to because of OCDand not capitalizing letters is a habit I do bc I feel like it. as soon as i posted “seek assistance” i knew id get yelled
there’s really no way to say it that doesn’t sound like “get help”, but I’ll just say it
if your condition forces you to post stars or arrows or whatever you should get in contact with a therapist. not to cure you. that’s not what i said.
and this sounds rude but sometimes there are reasons to seek assistance that aren’t rude
and don’t say autism because that is just offensive. as someone with a very close friend who has autism this is offensive to them. autism does not cause this.

and also what does that even mean
are you talking about the readers or the quirk writers
im saying the people who do it for fun is the quirk writes

Not everyone who uses these symbols has OCD, but there are a good amount of those who do. And before you say I did, no, I never said that everyone who has a typing quirk has OCD.There is literally nothing supporting this assertion. I've searched the internet and I couldn't even find anecdotal evidence.

Okay, you're not always going to find all the information from a Google search, news flash. You didn't ask someone who has a typing quirk to help with or due to OCD, did you? Then no, finding nothing on a search doesn't mean it isn't real or anything. Not everyone who uses these symbols has OCD, but there are a good amount of those who do. And before you say I did, no, I never said that everyone who has a typing quirk has OCD.There is literally nothing supporting this assertion. i have spent the last bit of time on google and i haven’t found anything associating ocd with thing quirks.
only thing i see is that typing quirks are most common among “plurals” whatever that means

stand up for yourself. don’t just accept your fate. try something. work for yourself by turning off emoji keyboards
what if we want to accept this “fate”? it’s our decision
first off I said “may decrease attention seeking behavior because you have to admit there are some people somewhere you use typing quirks that are attention seekingsend me an example. don’t need to name and shame, show me an example of a person who is attention seeking by quirks.

if you knew you’d get yelled why’d did you say that. not everyone has the money to get a therapist just because you like posting quirks.
i don’t think any conditions forces you to, but rather making you prone to it (and usually ends with lightheartedness)
i’m not saying autism causes for them, but i have like a buckload of friends who types this and has autism

ok so you admit fun isn’t a good reason
what is a good reason
if someone can give me proof that it causes severe distress to not post thing quirks AND that this is untreatable, i would consider making an exception.
so far no proof of that, and ive been searching the interwebs

and plurals, something i mentioned before, is a term for uhh multiple personality disorder i think. trauma response
and before you say seek help you can’t be cured from plurality

i have a couple friends who have autism and are also currently suspended. does that mean that autism means you will get suspended? of course not. that makes no sense.
good. so you admit that nothing forces you to type typing quirks, so it’s not unreasonable to ask people to stop in certain environments.

what suspension
and would it be that reasonable to ask someone to stop their habits? probably not, and probably not at that exact moment
