Better Moderation Idea
I've seen many projects banned for unreasonable reasons, so I have thought of a way to counter that!
IDEA:
When a mod bans someone or a project, their actions must be reviewed by another mod.
REASON:
If two mods are required to ban something, there is a lower chance of unfair bans.

That makes sense, but it would make the process slower

This effectively leads to more work for the moderators. I'm willing to say that at least 99% of bans, etc. are correctly given, so I don't see much of a benefit here. If a mistake happens, the Scratch Team members can already communicate with each other about what is going on.
I notice you say that you've seen “many projects banned for unreasonable reasons.” Note that what you may consider “unreasonable” is not the same as the Scratch Team. Since Scratch is for all ages, the Scratch Team imposes guidelines for content shared on the Scratch website, and some may find these guidelines strict. Keep this in mind.

Is this good or bad? This effectively leads to more work for the moderators.

Generally, more work for the moderators is not good, due to the fact that they are already a small team.Is this good or bad? This effectively leads to more work for the moderators.

You should really read de epic jvvg essay about false reports and moderation, the problem really isn't as bad as you think and usually when people complain about false/mass reports they either misunderstood or are trying to not own up to their actions.

What you think is a “unreasonable reason” may be viewed as a “reasonable reason” by the Scratch Team and community at large.
Also, bear in mind that users that say their projects were taken down unfairly are often either unaware of what they did wrong or outright lying for sympathy. The vast majority of projects taken down are taken down for very good reasons, and if you are unsure of why your project was taken down or disagree with the reasoning, you are always welcome to reach out via Contact Us.

This would likely lead to less errors. But, unfortunately, it would cost twice as much to do project moderation as it does currently. So it's probably not something that the team can afford at the moment. And, as others have pointed out, I don't think the current error rate is very high. But I don't have statistics to back that up.
