i wouldn't be suprised if this was already in bbcode and the only reason it isn't on the scratch forums is because they use an outdated version of bbcode

Those colors, combined with the current only light theme, are way too eyestraining for me. I propose other less saturated colors such as ████.

bbcode isnt standardised in that way, there arent defined official versions like there are with eg html. everyone making a bbcode parser just kind of copied eachothers homework until some common tags emerged, and now everyone making a bbcode parser continues to implement those because everyone else has. but theres no authority saying you have to have [b]
the only real standard is ‘you should probably have the ones people expect’ and the only thing holding you to it is ‘people will be confused if you dont’

anyway, support, seems pretty useful, but i think it should be named [background]. seems much more intuitive (and also ime thats what this sort of functionality is called on other sites, if it exists at all)
