what are unique visits?I'm guessing it's an attempt to count the number of people who visited Scratch (probably by incrementing it by 1 per IP address), rather than the number of accounts that visited Scratch (because alts exist).
Judging by various statistics over time, the website is actually more popular than ever (last few months recorded on the stats page saw some of the most new users ever), but people aren't spending as much time commenting as they did in 2021 (probably because we have other things to do than be stuck inside due to a global COVID-19 epidemic), and instead are spending more time making projects.

Many people have shared screenshots of last month's traffic from the Statistics page, but that's only one piece of the puzzle.
The question being asked is whether Scratch is losing popularity; as in, whether there is a downward trend in the level of traffic. This is something that a number alone cannot tell us.
To get the full picture, we need to see how these numbers compare with historical data.

This graph shows the monthly total of users creating projects and posting comments since March of 2007.
Activity grew steadily between 2013 and 2020; it jumped up to 1.5x the previous record in March of 2020, and nearly doubled again in early 2021.
An all-time high was achieved this year, with project creation spiking to 1.47 million in March of 2024, nearly 1.5x the 1 million seen a year earlier.
The graph stops in June 2024, at which point activity had dropped to 1.1 million.
Looking at the last decade of activity, this appears to be part of a trend; monthly activity peaks at the start and end of the year, bottoming out toward the middle. As @8to16 has pointed out, this is because many students use Scratch in the classroom.
With these trends in mind, I think we can safely say that Scratch is not losing popularity; quite the opposite, actually. Scratch's popularity is higher now than ever before.

(#9)this is mainly because a lot of people use scratch for school, or only have access to the internet or computers at school
Looking at the last decade of activity, this appears to be a trend; monthly activity peaks at the start and end of the year, bottoming out toward the middle (usually around July).

(#10)Ah, that's what it was! It seems so obvious now that you mention it. I've edited my post to include this.(#9)this is mainly because a lot of people use scratch for school, or only have access to the internet or computers at school
