Is scratch 4.0 ever going to come out? :O

When is scratch going to have robot, or echo in the sound editor. Or when is it going to have animated text? Who knows….

they have mentioned that 4.0 will start development in 2025 in this pdf on the scratch foundation website

Scratch 4.0 is planned as a “strategic priority” in 2025.

That doesn't mean it'll come out in 2025—it will probably be a while longer before it's ready, possibly years—but they are indeed working on it (or planning to, at least).

Side note it was only very recently we learned of this - for me it was yesterday! Thats why in the past wevee always said the ST had no plans to make 4.0

In fact, they quietly announced they are planning to start development in 2025 on a job description.

They're planning it, but no official announcement has released. They have started making it recently, because I believe a few months back @Paddle2See said that there were no plans for Scratch 4.0 (that he knew of).

We know very little about it. The only way we know about this is because of a PDF released on the Jobs page.

Scratch is mostly focused on fixing bugs and keeping the site up, so it would be unlikely that they would make a 4.0. 3.0 was made to mostly make interfaces and ui better, as well as making the website mobile friendly I believe. It would also be hard to think that they would even have time to make one too.

Well, Scratch 4.0 is only coming out when JavaScript or HTML 5 dies… A lot of websites use them, they're not going to stop being used soon. (Note: Scratch 3.0 was released because the 2.0 version used Flash, which had its EOL in 2020.) (Note 2: The time gap between the Scratch versions is just a coincidence.)

3.0 started development before Flash announced its removal

They are already planning on starting development in 2025.

So people could report bugs in the website, and so scratch could fix said bugs. I never said they didn’t fix bugs—
