When on your profile and looking at followers and following, it’s showing the oldest people I’ve followed/oldest people following me? But when I click on the followers/following links it’s newest first. Is this a new update? Or maybe a bug?

Yes, this is due to an update we performed this weekend to make sections of the site run (much, much) faster for users. You can still see your followers/following in the usual order on the “view all” page–it should just be your homepage that's affected.

That's really irritating; it feels weird considering that all the users that now show up on my Followers/Following tab are people who haven't been active on the site in over a decade.

It would probably be irritating if your profile took five minutes to load, too.

I quite like how this doesn’t put as much stress on your most recent followers, and gaining followers, without completely removing follower count.
