All right, how to move this discussion forward?
We've already covered a lot, so here's some points I remember just from the top of my head:
- We know we want an RGB, HSV, and/or hex code color picker.
- I started an inquiry about how much data this information would take up, but after some people ran some calculations, it turns out that this would not be that big of an issue.
- We never exactly decided where the data would be stored. I think a lot of people (including the OP) advocated for the Scratch servers, but a lot of people also suggested using cookies.
- We know that the text color would have to auto-adjust to whatever color you pick.
- There was some talk about putting either a saturation or brightness (I don't remember; maybe I'll check back at the post later, but I don't feel up to searching the dozens of pages we've created) limit on the colors you could choose, in order to prevent some vision problems. I argued the point (or a similar one) that this is for customization and that limiting it would also kind of defeat the purpose (and also, Scratch is stark white by default anyway, soooo…), but a lot of people still wanted it, so maybe we could revisit that.
- I don't remember if we wanted full control over the background color, but I know that dark mode was very much wanted.
- Some people suggested image and/or gradient backgrounds, but that raised some concerns about how to implement that and also for the data storage again, especially for images.
I'm definitely missing something, but, as I've already mentioned earlier, I don't feel up to the task of scrolling through 95 pages. The purpose of this was just to be a brief refresher and also hopefully to get this discussion back on track.

Not really a direct reply to BobTheBananu's post, but on the same thought, I think that users should have full freedom of the header's colour, but for the background users are limited to choosing between light and dark mode. That way Scratch can also match the system's default.

(#1887)Yes, if someone doesn't want to use a colour they can just… not use it? And blue light isn't that much of a problem, since the white background uses as much blue as pure blue.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but I also want the header colour to change buttons and other things coloured like it, and for there to be some options for background colour, box colour, link colour, secondary colour and tertiary colour as well.

Support SUPPORT!
This would make things look better and there would be more individuality.
Would you be able to change the taskbar colour in the dark theme, though?
Because I think navy blue would look awesome with the dark theme.
Wow, that does look cool!

?? why would vision impaired people use scratch if they can't see?
they can see, their vision is just… impaired
also if you apply this logic to other sites, does that mean that people with impaired vision can't use the internet at all?

for example: my friend gets a headache from purple. why would vision impaired people use scratch if they can't see?
Doesn't necessarily mean that people go BLIND from seeing a color, but it still gets people hurting or sick.
edit: please don't abuse emoji use

[PLEASE DO NOT PROTEST THE PURPLE] An option in account settings to change the site's theme and navigation bar colour
Hello! I am vaguely new to this discussion but in my opinion..
1: I love this idea to help the colorblind
2: I love this idea for the people who enjoy colors other than blue and purple
3: This would make a great and welcoming change to scratch and would (hopefully) convince more people to join our tight knit community.
4: Limits may not be necessary since people can make their own decisions (most of the time) and are hopefully responsible enough to not abuse this feature.
If you are open to more ideas please let me know!!!

Also, the purple has actually caused issues for colorblind people, as I have shown previously, and as I've seen some colorblind people state.for example: my friend gets a headache from purple. why would vision impaired people use scratch if they can't see?

Edit: Something like this should be implemented for the blocks too because I've seen people state the same for the color contrast colors, and I shared images somewhere that showed that the block colors did not work for any of the types of colorblindness very well.
