Scratch Team roles remotely.
As an Australian I always wonder if there are any roles I can do for scratch from Australia. A moderator would be nice especially on the forums.

Well first, you have to be at least 18 years of age, as being a member of the Scratch team is a real job. And then you must also have the legal right to work in your country.

The Wiki also says you have to work in the US, is that true or can I join from Australia

Can't find a source that says you can't. But I also can't find one that's says you can. So I have no idea..Well first, you have to be at least 18 years of age, as being a member of the Scratch team is a real job. And then you must also have the legal right to work in your country. The Wiki also says you have to work in the US, is that true or can I join from Australia

I'm assuming the only role you'll be able to take on is the community moderator position as Paddle2see is a moderator who lives in Maine, while the Scratch Foundation is based in Massachusetts
But even then I might be wrong.
But even then I might be wrong.

You just need the legal ability to work in the US. I believe that this is typically done via a Remote Work Visa.
EDIT: They can also be called Digital Nomad Visas

There've been plenty of moderators who've worked remotely before. I worked in Minnesota back when I was a Scratch Team member. I also know @GulpTea worked in Canada, so you don't even need to be in the United States to work as a moderator.
There are even non-moderator positions that seem to be allowing remote work these days. I can't speak to the specifics of how one does these jobs, but I imagine these could theoretically also be done outside of the United States, as long as you have the legal ability to work for a foundation based in the United States.

You do not need to be based or located in the US to work for ST.
You are obligated to legally be able to work in the US.

yikes. the link on the bottom of scratch.mit.edu is outdated.. having three sites is definitely problematic.however, they don't list any open positions right now. They list open positions on scratch.org, actually.

yikes. the link on the bottom of scratch.mit.edu is outdated.. having three sites is definitely problematic.Yes, Zach also mentioned that the reason he has not updated the link to jobs on TOLoRS is because he is unsure which is the updated one.
Two possibilities;
1. scratchfoundation.org/careers is not being updated, and scratch.org/careers is.
2. Vice versa.
And we are unsure which, as of now. My guess is that 1. is correct, as I recall an announcement about scratch.org suggested that scratch.org is where Careers belongs now, since it states that the current link in the footer for Careers will be replaced with scratch.org/careers.
