Since IP bans are too harsh (and many people hack into free accounts to let the ST know or just for fun), we want YOU guys to decide should the ST remove & revoke all IP bans!

IP bans aren't even that common. You only get them if you ban evade a bunch, sure it can ban some innocent scratchers, just appeal the ban.

ip bans are usually given on cases when the user, even after appealing, does not follow the rules, or broke a rule extremely severely. what you are suggesting is to allow people to constantly just make a new account anyways.
if you remove ip bans, it'll just result in the site being mass-spammed by trolls even harder and the community will complain.

also, “just for fun” is not justification for technically breaking section 3 paragraph 4 (and by extension, 2.3 & 2.5) of the tou.

IP bans exist for a reason. What if someone is extremely hateful, mass reporting and making everyone sad gets banned but just keeps creating new accounts to make scratch worse?

Nope, not a good idea. Ban evaders and serious rule breakers everywhere. IP bans, unlike mutes and (I think temp bans), are really hard to get and aren't handed out randomly like Halloween candy.

If you get IP banned, then you must've done something to earn that ban in the first place.
If you don't think the ban was justified, contact the ST here.

IP blocks are put in place when the activity coming from them are severe and coming from more tan one account. Due to safety and security reason, we will not be removing IP blocks put in place. If you wish to dispute an IP block, please ask the adult in charge of the network (usually a parent or legal guardian in case of a personal network, or a teacher in case of a school network) to contact the Scratch Team about the block.
