Punch-Out!! Official Discussion Thread
Okay, so I don't think there is a thread for Punch-Out!! yet, so I think I'm safe. Anyways, discuss the Punch-Out!! series of games (and its spinoffs) here.

The only game in the series I have is the Wii version, and I'm currently up to Great Tiger. I got past Bear Hugger by luck. I also want a copy of Super Punch-Out!!.

Do you know the strategy to defeat him? It's impossible if you don't know what to do, but it gets far simpler once you know the trick. I.Cant.Get.Past.KING HIPPO!!!!

Alright, so I beat the final challenge of Punch-Out!! on my copy of Ultimate NES Remix. The first part was to KO/TKO Piston Honda before the round ends. But do you know the next part of the challenge? The exact next part? It's “Watch Doc Louis train Little Mac!”. That was so anti-climactic, it was comedy gold.

Bumpformers, bumps in disguise.
Alrighty, I just got up to the World Circuit. Don Flamenco, although a little tough, was generally easy to beat once I got the hang of it. Aran Ryan was a bit of a pain to go through (and he admittedly got a few losses on my record), but I finally beat him. Now I'm up to Soda Popinski. It's going to take me a while before I'm properly trained to defeat him. (Super Punch-Out!! would also be pretty cool to get. Of course I mean the SNES version, although the arcade version would be great too.)

Got past Bald Bull and Super Macho Man in one day! (SMM took a lot of work though.) Mr. Sandman is pretty much the end of me.

First: Danke! First: Awesome new ‘icon’ ;D
Second… I still don't have Punch Out!! in any form…
Second: If you don't have it in any form, consider giving the series a try. If possible, rent a Wii copy of Punch-Out!! from a video store if they have it, or try out one of the older games on an emulator (if you consider that alright, else just watch a gameplay video). If you like it so much you want to get a full game, read the following text: What you can get differs on what consoles you have. There were only three home releases: Punch-Out!! featuring Mr. Dream AKA Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! for NES, Super Punch-Out!! for SNES and Punch-Out!! for Wii. And funnily enough, you can get all of these releases from the Wii U eShop. The gameplay style is a key factor in what game is best for you. The NES version has an original gameplay style while Super Punch-Out!! sticks closer to the arcade versions. The Wii version is mainly based off of the NES version, but with expanded features and a few changes. Ultimately, just choose the game that looks most right for you by checking out gameplay videos and more online information.
And that's pretty much it! I know you might not actually end up getting a Punch-Out!! game at all, but I just wanted to give you some amateur advice from an insanely obsessed Punch-Out!! fan. Also, thanks for being the second person that has posted on this thread who isn't myself.
(FUN FACT: Charles Martinet does the voice of the boxers and the announcer in the SNES Super Punch-Out!! in 1994, one year before his first ever appearance as Mario.)

I find myself being oddly addicted to watching videos about all the games in the series, and even browsing through the wiki. It's as if I actually WANT to try the games out. (Note the only versions I have are the Masterpieces set on the SSB4 Wii U version, and NES Remix 2).

I can also understand your surprise at (shock and horror) actually wanting to try out these games. At first, I saw it as nothing. But now, it's, like, my favo(u)rite Nintendo series so far. I'm pretty much like a walking encyclopedia on Punch-Out!! because I know so much about it.

Stuck on TD Piston Hondo. (yes, I got past World B. TD Disco Kid was very fun to fight against BTW.)
Anyways, I'm currently trying to obtain all the medals for each character to unlock their voice clips. I only have Glass Joe, Von Kaiser, King Hippo, Piston Hondo and Great Tiger so far.
