I think it would be fun to do a community poll - here's what I think the results would be

99.879% - keep follows
0.121% - get rid of follows

I typically see people say to remove follows because they're salty they don't have enough to their standards. I'm not saying that's what's happening here, but I don't think this is really beneficial. Plus we all know this never will happen. You can reply to this and say “but it might” but it won't. You know it, I know it. This is just useless discussion. Of course everyone wants to continue because of the illusion that it's possible. But what it comes down to is that Scratch isn't going to completely reform their website because of a random suggestion with virtually no community support.

Agreed, this will never happen. Should the OP close this topic as it is un-realistic?

but what if we did an experiment where people rated there enjoyment of scratch with and without follows.
