They are trying to get banned, i feel like just banning them will give them satisfaction, so my suggestion is to shadow ban these people, making it so where they will never get the satisfaction of winning their speedrun. plus it would be a IP shadow ban, meaning they cant get banned by just swapping to another account, what will happen is anything they post, wether it be forum posts, projects or comments will be visible only to them, and their profile will never show up. in short anything they do will be visible to them and other people on the same IP only, anyone else will not see them or know they exist

gets rid of the worst rule breakers on scratch permanently (A really big pro)
might make moderators jobs much easier

CONS
Appealing might be hard if someone has a change of heart
Would be be ineffective unless the dev team works on making shadow bans

Yep, how are they gonna get a record if they cant even win their ban speed run?

After some attempts at ban evasion the ST just IP bans you (nobody on your Wi-Fi network can use Scratch).

Besides, “shadowbanning” doesn't really exist on Scratch. The closest you could probably get would be to NFE (prevents them from appearing on the front page, search results or Explore page) all of a person's projects and give them an indefinite (or just really, really long) mute (can't comment). And that would be noticeable to the person being “shadowbanned”, and they could still break the CGs via projects. Alternatively they could do something similar to when you create an account and haven't verified your email, but what's to prevent them from just creating yet another account?

If Scratch was set up to be able to shadowban people, then this wouldn't be a bad idea. However, currently the closest you can get to shadowbanning someone (without actually banning them) is either pretty noticeable, or continues to let the person break the CGs.

Yeah, though i feel like it would be good to make actual shadow bans a feature just to get probably the worst rules offenders off the site forever, why just stop there, lets get rid off all their achievements too by requesting to take down all leaderboards associated with ban speedrunning scratch, maybe take down videos of ban speedruns if we are feeling extra spicy. (As you can guess i despise ban speedrunning, its just more work for the already overworked scratch team. so i am very passionate about this topic of stopping them once and for all)

The issue comes in with appeals.
Ban speedrunning is indeed an awful thing to do; However, people still learn; And someone may wish to regain access to Scratch by appealing, this time not breaking CG/ToU.

Yet another good point i did not think about, what do we do to fix that problem?

I wish that sometimes that before people go pulling off stunts for pure attention and annoynance, they should really just consider what they're doing and how this will affect other people first (like the hard working devs and mod team of Scratch).

But what if shadowbanning isn't enough to prevent and put a stop to ban-speedrunning alone? There are few users that have survived bans that were well-deserved for attempting said runs and still end up doing it again without thought.

I would preferably want any of those in the userbase who practice that to be shadowbanned, if that is getting or already has been implemented.

I like this idea. I think there should be a time limit until they can apply for a pardon.

It starts low and increases, maxing at a year. That way, users who didn’t realize or understand what would happen (dared, tricked, or threatened into getting banned) aren’t just kicked off scratch forever due to a mistake. The large time limit would help keep repeat offenders from hurting the scratch community.

I support. However, as others have said, this would be hard to implement.

Additionally, this could lead to discrepancies that let them know they are shadow banned.

For example, many people use a browser extension which I can't name, that changes the way quotes show up. If I quote the OP, it would look like this:

you could just IP/device ban because they are banned and “won” but can never go on the back on the website so if they had a main account its all gone so they won but lost everything on scratch

we don’t have shadow bans iirc

anyway just thrown in an ip ban so they can’t get another account to go back on scratch and actually learn that ban speedruns are bad
