WHY DOES SCRATCH KEEP DELETING THE AUDIO FROM PEOPLE'S PROJECTS
It is not intentional, it's just that if a sound fails to load for whatever reason (maybe server issues or a bad connection), it becomes blank.but it keeps on happening to me and I don't know how to stop it from happening cuz I am making a recreation of JSAB and it just disappears a lot when I open it so its annoying having to re import the sound and edit it and try it to just have it probably disappear later.
The blank “error” sound will not actually be saved into the project (unless you edit it in the sound editor).

I might also have another solution to this:it only happens over 5MB which is why compressing it worked.1. That doesn't mean it cannot be the case, server issues can start happening later.but it can't be server issues if people are only experiencing this in 2024? My story is that I made an OC project with two songs. the longer one got deleted. I even cut it in half and separated it but it got deleted. Both songs were downloaded from the same website too and artist. This makes me think that there is a glitch with Scratch's audio size. It “saves” the song, but the glitch causes it to delete itself bc the audio is too long. That is my theory but someone tell me if this happens with sound effects or smth. The audio that worked for me was 138.66 and the broken audio is 175.28. It's abt 5-6 MB though so it “should” be in Scratch's limit, but that's why I have my theory that I already stated.(#8)Once again, probably just server issues.
then why would older projects who have had the working audio for a while just consistently not work? this issue is really interesting, this never has happened to me before 2024
*SIGH*
2. It also occurred in 2023.
Though, every time I have seen this bug, it only seems to happen on one side (as in, others cannot see the bug).
I have a development and it supports my theory! B) Since I thought the file size was the glitch, I used a file compressor for my longer audio and then I uploaded it into Scratch. I saved the project and reloaded the tab. The audio was full and it played when I pressed the green flag so… I believe my theory was correct my dearest Watson xD. I wonder why that happens though. I mean, at least now with the test, others can learn from my experience and now they can fix their stuff which is really good for everyone in the long run
Oh my god thank you.
You could probably just first edit your sound if itd too long and then export it to your computer and just re import it.

WHY DOES SCRATCH KEEP DELETING THE AUDIO FROM PEOPLE'S PROJECTS
I don't get it. I would share a project, and a few months later I would check up on it, and when I press play, the audio is just GONE. And when I go inside the “sounds” I just see a thin, continuous line in replace of the audio. It's like the audio is literally just cut out.

I saw that problem with an animation I think, maybe it forces you to give credit? If you did it’s probably a glitch, I’ll try to look around at the projects you put. I would think if it’s ST they would not remove NCS music, So in my opinion it’s likely a glitch.
i know this may sound crazy but it only just the creator as the others can hear it sometimes tho as i looked at my brother account and opene a project with that issue and it worked for him so i think its fine just get an alt account i think its just failing to load so yeah your welcome

And when I go inside the “sounds” I just see a thin, continuous line in replace of the audio. It's like the audio is literally just cut out.Yeah. It is starting to basically become an annoyance whenever I load up a project, and there is some sounds ALL GONE replaced with a thin line. It might be due to the black computer I'm using because it is not close to the internet, where my mother's laptop I used to use until my older brother took it loaded sounds FLAWLESSLY. Maybe if my black computer is close to the router it could be fine.
And yes, I did experience it the first time when I was editing my project which involves a PAINFUL boss against Antonio EX, and when I tested the ranking system, some parts of the Phase 2 music IS GONE. And yes, I mean I compressed the music into nine sounds, since it lasted twelve minutes, which is a HUMONGOUS size for Scratch to handle. I don't like it when some parts where gone because it makes the music sound awkward and incomplete.
And, to top it all off, when I need to play a project where some sounds are gone, I use Turbowarp AND STILL, SOME SOUNDS ARE GONE! AGAIN! Guess what, not all projects I play have the issue but it bothers me.
And oh, you want to see the route i taken to compress the Phase 2 music? Here it is:
when I receive [FINALE v]
play sound [ v] until done
forever
play sound [ v] until done
play sound [ v] until done
play sound [ v] until done
play sound [ v] until done
play sound [ v] until done
play sound [ v] until done
play sound [ v] until done
play sound [ v] until done
end
Yeah, it's awkward, but it helps because you can import a big song and compress it into multiple pieces. In other words, it helps a ton!
