Official scratch offline editor for linux

Why is it important?
The linux desktop's market share is growing and there is no official support for any linux distributions.

There is a scratch editor for Android* and ChromeOS they are both running linux and it could be ported to any linux distribution easily.

There is no official scratch editor for any linux distribution that i know of.
It could be distributed as a Flatpak and it doesnt need to be packaged on all distributions.

*: Android usually runs on ARM architecture not x86 that most computers use so it is harder to port from android and also its a mobile app on android

To be fair, Android isn't Linux. It's middleware to allow basic interaction with the Linux Kernel, with minimum support for Linux apps.
However, they could theoretically compile the editor for Ubuntu and Fedora, two more popular Linux Distro.

The Scratch app is currently not supported on Linux. We are working with partners and the open-source community to determine if there is a way we can support Linux in the future. Stay tuned!

.exe, .dmg, and .apk files can't be run on most Linux distributions. In other words, that's pointless.

Regardless, the Windows and Mac offline editors are created by taking a slightly modified version of scratch-gui and its dependencies and building an Electron app out of them, so I wonder how hard it would be to just use Electron's built-in Linux app creation tools.

Unless you use Wine, which allows you to run scratch 3.0 on linux.

This topic is a duplicate: https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/422338/

The ST likes to have one topic per suggestion, because the devs don't have to read through twenty of them to implement something.

Thanks for the link! It does look like this is a duplicate topic so I'll close it to keep the conversation all in one place. Please use the existing topic in the link above.
